Communications Manager FoodDrinkEurope Brussels, Belgium


The Communications Manager will report to the Director of Communications and will work alongside one other staff member who deals with EP relations and communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Communications Director in internal and external communications tasks;
  • Prepare and review texts for press and policy documents (as needed), as well as develop strategic online and print content on a wide range of policy areas of interest to the industry;
  • Help organise press briefings and media materials as well as events in view of strategic objectives of the industry;
  • Assure consistency of all FoodDrinkEurope communications materials and channels in line with the in-house style guide;
  • Supervise the production of strategic communications tools such as brochures, videos, etc.;
  • Manage the website to ensure it is up-to-date (with the help of an external supplier) and provide strong editorial and style assistance on a proactive basis;
  • Some small administrative tasks related to the function as required.

  • Excellent writing and oral skills, strong attention to detail and grammar;
  • Strong ability to understand complex issues and convey them in a meaningful way, easy to understand by a variety of audiences;
  • Capacity to work effectively under pressure and to meet tight deadlines while managing other tasks simultaneously;
  • Quick learner and self-starter with a positive, solutions-based attitude to work;
  • Energetic member of a small team with a willingness to learn.

Profile:

  • University degree or equivalent in communications, public relations or political science;
  • 3-4 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a public relations function – either inhouse or in a PR/PA agency;
  • English mother tongue or equivalent; knowledge of other EU languages (specifically, French, Dutch or German) would be an asset;
  • Previous experience of working with media;
  • IT literate including solid web management skills and knowledge of social media tools;
  • General knowledge of the functioning of the EU political system and processes;
  • Knowledge of the EU food and drink industry would be an advantage.
