Danish Institute for Human Rights Senior Advisor


Experienced Human Rights and Business Advisor to
run our Corporate Engagement Programme. 
Under the Corporate Engagement Programme, the Danish Institute for Human Rights engages directly with some of the world’s leading corporate actors. The aim of this work is to improve the human rights impact of the companies we work with; and to develop tools and promote standards for good human rights practice in the wider corporate sector.
ABOUT THE POSITION
For more than a decade, DIHR has been a global leader in the area of human rights and business. We are now seeking an experienced professional to oversee DIHR’s Corporate Engagement Programme and to provide senior level expertise on our corporate engagement projects.

As Programme Coordinator you will:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with programme partners and stakeholders
  • Coordinate a team consisting of 10 human rights and business specialists
  • Drive development and implementation of programme strategy
  • Ensure monitoring, quality assurance and evaluation of the programme
  • Ensure the programme’s financial sustainability

As Senior Advisor you will:
  • Manage key projects within the Corporate Engagement Programme
  • Provide human rights and business expertise on corporate engagement projects
  • Contribute to international debates on human rights and business
  • Provide human rights and business expertise on DIHR projects with state and civil society partners

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Several years of experience in human rights, sustainability, development assistance or similar fields.
  • A proven track record in coordinating teams of project managers.
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal and relationship management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of human rights and business issues such as labour standards, land rights, environmental rights, human security, revenue management, supply chain management, or anti-corruption.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability issues in one or more industry sectors such as Extractives, ICT, Finance, Food and Beverage, and Agriculture.
  • Demonstrated experience with human right based approaches in general and corporate human rights due diligence in particular.
  • Proven international track record as consultant, advisor or project manager on assignments related to human rights and business, including field experience in developing countries.
  • Strong and relevant academic credentials in the area of human rights, development, political science or business.
  • Project management experience, including project planning, monitoring, evaluation and administration.
  • Experience of working in a deadline-driven, team-based work environment.
  • Excellent command of English and ideally one additional major language. Willingness to learn Danish.
The post is a full-time position based in Copenhagen with regular travel, including to least developed countries. Salary is set in accordance with the Danish Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
