Our mission is to maximise profits on behalf of the BBC by creating, acquiring, developing and exploiting media content and media brands around the world. We are self-funded and return profits to the BBC to be reinvested in programmes and services to help keep the UK licence fee as low as possible.

Our primary purpose is to bring value to the BBC in the form of profits and programme investment. We acquire the commercial rights to great programmes such as Planet Earth, Doctor Who and Top Gear and find ways of earning money from these across different media and markets. We then channel funds back to the BBC to be invested in new programmes and services. In 2011/12, BBC Worldwide generated profits of £155 million on sales of £1085 million and returned £182m to the BBC.

Role

We are recruiting for an Account Executive within Digital advertising to support the London Sales team in generating sales revenues for BBC Worldwide Advertising products and services as well as developing business with our existing clients for potential new business and identifying new sales opportunities for additional revenues.

You’ll play a key role within the campaign delivery, development and tracking by contributing to the regional sales revenue target, identifying prospective new business opportunities, delivering proposals and pitches to progress sales, developing relationships with key players and providing regular sales updates to the Account Manager and team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you’ll have sound knowledge of the media industry and platforms, BBC Worldwide Advertising products and services, specifically digital advertising and media sales. Demonstrable experience in digital ad sales is highly desirable whilst a track record of achieving sales results and influencing senior managers to secure sales is a must.

Therefore, you’ll have acquired knowledge of consultative selling techniques, research methods and sources, advertising terminology and industry competitors.

As the Account Executive you’ll have excellent IT, communication, influencing and negotiation skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

You’ll be an energetic, motivated team player with the ability to work well independently, on your own initiative as well as under pressure.
