On behalf of the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA), Forestry Training Institute ( FTI), Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (EASTC), National Museum Of Tanzania (NMT), Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI), Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites qualified Tanzanians to fill 171 vacant posts in the above public institutions.

1.0 THE COMMISSION FOR MEDIATION AND ARBITRATION (CMA)

The Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA) is an independent Government Institution, established under Section 12 of the Labour Institutions Act No. 7 of 2004 (LIA No. 7 of 2004).

1.1 MEDIATOR II - 44 POSTS 1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•     To conduct mediation of labour disputes referred to the commission.

To prepare progressive reports on the assigned duties and provide feedback to management.

To perform any other duties related to the above, assigned by supervisors.

1.1.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holders of Bachelors Degree in Law, with accomplishment of internship or law school of Tanzania. Or

Holders of Bachelor Degree in Economics, Social Sciences (Sociology, Human Resources and Public Administration) or Advance Diploma in Labour Studies, with Post Graduate Diploma in Law Mediation and Arbitration from a recognized Academic Institution.

Exposure to labour relations and dispute resolution will be an added advantage.

Should have good discipline, healthy and ready to work anywhere in Tanzania Mainland.

1.1.3   REMUNERATION

Remuneration will be according to the Government salary scale TGS. E and other terms and conditions of Public Service.

1.2 ARBITRATOR II - 40 POSTS
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To conduct arbitration disputes   referred to the Commission and make awards

To perform any other duties related to the above, assigned by supervisors.
1.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1.3 PERSONAL SECRETARY GRADE III - 15 POSTS 1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Type letters and other documents.

Receive and direct visitors to relevant officers.

Keep various records and appointments of immediate supervisor.

Help supervisor to retrieve various files and other documents.

Facilitate meetings preparations.

Make arrangements for official travels and logistics.

Keep file movement registers.

Send mail and faxes.

1.3.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of ordinary or Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education with certificate in Secretarial Studies stage III from TPSC.

Holder of Basic Computer Certificate in the following Programs; - Windows, Microsoft Office, internets, E-mail and Publisher.

Should have 80 W.P.M shorthand in English and Swahili, 80 W.P.M typing, tabulation and manuscript stage III, Secretarial Duties and Office Practice Stage II.

Should be a Tanzania Citizen.

Should have good discipline and to work anywhere in Tanzania.


1.3.3   REMUNERATION

Remuneration will be according to the Government Scale TGS. B and other terms and conditions of Service.

2.0    FORESTRY TRAINING INSTITUTE (FTI)

The Forestry Training Institute ( FTI) was established in 1937 to provide a two year training for Forest Rangers at certificate level. It is operating under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. The institute has expanded gradually both academically and structurally. This improvement has been achieved through the commitment of the Government of Tanzania ( GOT) and other external donors. Both national and international students are recruited and admitted every year.

2.1 PROJECT MANAGER (PM) 2.1.1 POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Manager (PM) works out of the Project Office located in the Forestry Training Institute, Olmotonyi. The PM will be jointly responsible for the overall technical and coordination of the project. He/She will work closely with Project secretariat and TA.


2.1.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Represent and/or act on behalf of the project in communicating and negotiating with potential/existing partners in the PFM/REDD +and Climate change capacity building program of Tanzania.

In close collaboration with the TA, Project secretariat and Training Coordinator (TC) oversee and implement project activities defined in the project document as well as acting as national focal point and contact for appropriate stakeholders and partners associated with this project.

In consultation with the TA, Project secretariat and TC, establish a project office for project implementation and coordination.

Facilitate the necessary preparatory work and subsequent proposal for the development and/or support of /for a national PFM/REDD + and Climate change capacity building level program.

Provide regular up-to-date reports to project partners on key forest and participatory forestry development in Tanzania and Eastern Africa (quarterly basis).

Convene and provide project progress reports, work-plans and budget to project steering committee

Identify and promote best practices for participatory forest management and monitor overall progress in the PFM sector at national, sub-national and district levels and share with TA, Project secretariat, project staff, MJUMITA and the training team.

Assist with the identification of organizations and funding agencies that have interest in developing project proposals.

Actively engage and contribute to the work of existing neutral platforms involved in participatory forest management in Tanzania.

Provide support to management counterpart on efficient project management including finances, HR, M and E, reporting and administration.

Prepare project budget, work plan and progress reports.

Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by FTI, TA and the Project secretariat from time to time.

2.1.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

5 years experience in PFM/REDD + and Climate change or participatory natural resource management field project/program implementation.

Proved record of working experience in community forestry or community –based forest management in Tanzania.

MSc in Forestry, NRM, Agriculture, Environment or equivalent.

Strong team building, leadership and networking qualities

Fluent written and spoken English and Kiswahili

Willingness to travel frequently

Experience in using excel, power point and other computer packages

Field work experience at the community level in community based forest Management or community base natural management will be an added advantage

He / She must be a Tanzania nation

2.2 TRAINING COORDINATOR (TC) 2.2.1 POSITION SUMMARY:

The Training Coordinator works out of the Project Office located in the Forestry Training Institute (Olmotonyi) under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and in liaison with TA and RECOFTC’s Capacity Building services team in Bangkok together with officers/counterparts nominated by FTI. The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing a series of Trainings of Trainers (ToT) processes for selected district and NGO staff, who will in turn carry out PFM program at village level. The objective of these trainings is to build the capacity of stakeholders so that existing forest managers, villagers, and other district forest officers ate functioning effectively.

2.2.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, develop, and monitor the Training (ToT) for the national PFM/REDD + training team.

Advise on selection of ToT participants.

Draft ToRs, contract and supervise Trainers of Trainers seasons:

Facilitate ToT sessions;

In consultation with the Project secretariat, Project manager, MJUMITA, FTI tutors and advisory group, prepare/adapt/elaborate training curricula and information materials;

Modify training materials based on experience from initial training sessions;

Write training reports;

Provide technical support, following-up, back-stopping and monitoring assistance to the national PFM/REDD +training team to deliver district and village level adaptive and innovative capacity building interventions;

Facilitate district level field facilitators, forest managers, NGOs staff to document learning from field practices;

Translate from Kiswahili to English and from English to Kiswahili, documents related to the training, capacity building, and workshop program;

Perform expenditure report checking against planned budgets of training sessions to make sure expenses are accurate, transparent and efficient;

Participate and contribute in the Project Annual Planning and Budgeting process;

Help with the preparation of quarterly reports and budgets;

Performs other tasks as are assigned from time to time by the PM.

The Position is for a Tanzania national.

2.2.4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Bachelors degree in Forestry, NRM, Environment or related field;

Minimum 5 years working experience in teaching and development of participatory training materials;

Good working knowledge of English and Kiswahili;

Sound knowledge of Microsoft applications.

2.2.4   DESIRABLE:

Possess leadership personality, and able to take on and solve problems quickly and efficiently;

Possess instructive skills;

Hands –on experience and able work independently with minimum supervision;

Experience with PFM and REDD + in Tanzania at the operational level.

Experience in working with local communities

2.2.5   GENERAL:

2.4 PROJECT ACCOUNTANT (PA)

2.3.1   POSITION SUMMARY

The project Accountant works out of the Project Office located in the Forestry Training Institute (Olmotonyi). The officer will be reporting to the PM and in liaison TA and the Project secretariat and will perform the following duties and responsibilities:


2.3.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration of project finances;

Preparation of annual budgets in line with the guidelines provided in the project document;

Will ensure that proper financial procedures are absolutely adhered to by all project staff and executing agencies at levels;

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all ECCOPRC bank accounts;

Audit the Books of Accounts and ensure that prudent, accurate and up to date books of accounts /records are well kept;

Facilitate disbursement of project funds;

Prepare financial records and advise the PM on project’s financial status and trends;

Will ensure that auditors are availed all necessary documents during the audit;

Any other related work as may be assigned by the PM

2.3.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A    degree    in    any    of    the   following    disciplines;    Business    administration

(Accounting/Finance Options), Commerce (Accounting and Finance options), ACCA/CPA at the minimum of 2nd level from a recognized university.

Must be computer literate, especially in electronic spreadsheet, and other accounting packages e.g. Pastel will be an added advantage.

The Accountant must have shown merit and ability in work performance for at least five (5) years and must be familiar with the working of the government and donor funded projects;

Have knowledge on (a) Banking and (b) Financial Control.

Good leadership and interpersonal skills

Outstanding communication skills.

Have command on accounting packages such as quick book, pastel etc.

2.5 TECHNICAL ADVISOR (TA)

2.4.1   POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Advisor (TA) will be responsible for supporting and advising the Empowering Communities through Training on PFM, REDD + and Climate Change Initiative which will be implemented in partnership with the Forestry Training Institute (Olmotonyi) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and MJUTA (the National Association of community Forestry User Groups). The TA will work closely with the Project Manager.

2.4.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Advise on the development of criteria for targeted site selection together with counterparts and partner agencies and work through the selection process for 12 districts in 3 agro-ecological regions which represent 3 main forest types of Tanzania.

Provide overall technical advice and support on the capacity building intervention and training curriculum for cascade capacity building program for district and village levels for effective sustainable participatory forest management .

Responsible for developing a national training program to support PFM, Climate change and REDD + program.

Oversee the design of the curriculum for the training component for the program and finalize the implementation plan for the training of trainers.

Together with project staff and the PFM team work together with the selected districts to build necessary skills and knowledge for field facilitation on related competencies for supporting effective development and implementation of participatory forest management within the districts

Together with project staff and the training team to assist district level field facilitator to conduct adaptive and innovative training for village natural resource committee and leaders in supporting their participatory forest management in the region

Support networking between forest managers and national decision making officers to review and reform policy and legal frame work.

Advise on how to actively engage with PFM, REDD + and Climate Change national task forces and networks and collaborate with relevant organizations in Tanzania to help identify and share insights among communities and implementation partners, promote best practices for PFM and to monitor overall progress in the PFM sector.

Together with counterparts, participate in project advisory committee meetings.

Advise on implementation of business plan of the project.

2.4.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

10 years experience in PFM/REDD+ and Climate change or participatory natural resource management field project/program implementation.

PhD or MSc in Forestry, NRM, Agriculture, Environment or equivalent

Strong experience in Natural Resources Capacity Building/participatory Training and Curriculum Development.

Strong team building, leadership and Networking Qualities

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Willingness to travel frequently to the field sites.

2.4.4   ADVANTAGES
• Experience on community forestry or community based natural resources management in Tanzania or Eastern Africa.

Knowledge of spoken Kiswahili will be an added advantage.

3.1 EASTERN AFRICA STATISTICAL TRAINING CENTRE

The Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (EASTC) is a higher leaning Institution that was established in 1965 to train staff of the National Statistical Offices in eighteen Eastern and Southern Africa Countries; namely South Africa, Botswana, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Southern Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The main focus being National Accounts, Agricultural Statistics, Business Statistics, Statistical Computing and Survey Methodology at degree, diploma, certificate and foundation levels.

3.1 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – 1 POST 3.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To teach up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);

To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises for students under close Supervision;

To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises;

To assist in conducting research under close supervision and

To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision.

3.1.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holders of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with very strong knowledge of programming skills from recognized higher learning Institution. Experience in developing a working information system and teaching experience in a NACTE system will be added advantages. GPA should not be less than 3.5.

4.0    NATIONAL MUSEUM OF TANZANIA

The National Museum of Tanzania is a consortium of five Tanzanian museums whose purpose is to preserve and show exhibits about the history and natural environment of Tanzania. The consortium developed from the National Museum of Dar es Salaam, established in 1934 by Tanganyika governor Harold Mac Michael. Four more museums later joined the consortium, namely the Village Museum in Dar es Salaam, the National History Museum and the Arusha Declaration Museum in Arusha, and the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Museum in Butiama.

4.1       CURATOR II

4.1.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Documentation of collections.

Write exhibits labels and helps in staging exhibitions

4.1.4   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess at least BA/BS.c. with minimum of second class in his field of specialization preferably Archaeology with a Diploma or Certificate in Museum Techniques and experience in collections management and care.

4.1.5 AGE:  Not more than 40 years

5.0 MUHIMBILI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SCIENCES

The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is a successor to the Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS), which was a constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam. MUCHS was established by an Act of Parliament, Act No 9 of 1991, when the then Faculty of Medicine was upgraded to a College.

5.1 HEALTH LABORATORY SCIENTIFIC OFFICER II- 2 POSTS 5.1.1 AREA OF SPECIALIZATION

Pharmaceutics, Parasitology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, pharmacognosy Hematology, Biological and pre-clinical studies, parasitology

5.1.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in research, consultancy and professional development program (PDP) activities in his/ her laboratory (department).

Prepare manuscripts, laboratory practical and other relevant needs.

Instruct undergraduate and postgraduate students during practical.

Assist in planning research student’s laboratory /projects and consultancy activities.

Responsible for all laboratory support activities for research, teaching and consultancy which require high level of technical knowledge and quality.

Develop and modify student’s experiments and experimental rigns in consultation with academic members of staff.

Liaise with academic and administrative staff on matters related to the respective laboratory.

Responsible for plans and implementation and maintenance programs for all facilities for one’ laboratory.

Participate in development and organization of training programs for junior staff in the respective laboratory and artisans.

Advise on the planning and procurement of laboratory facilities.

Responsible for the on job training of technicians.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.


5.1.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder  of  Degree  or  Advanced  Diploma  in  Medical  Laboratory  Sciences  as  per
area of specialization.
Must     be     registered     as     Graduate     Health     Laboratory     Scientific     Officer/
Technologist  by the  relevant  competent  Authority.  Candidate  with  some  years  of
working experience will have an added advantage.

5.2 CIVIL ENGINEER II – 1 POST 5.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in establishing and implementing preventive maintenance plans for the University.

Assist in making pre-acceptance checks of new equipments for verifying specification.

Assist in planning maintenance schedules for all equipments and buildings.

Preparing budget for engineering works.

Developing and modify technical tasks.

Assist in carrying out planning and procurement of necessary spares and equipments.

Carriers out independently, specified routine technical tasks, which require technical knowledge and skills.

Performs any other duties as may be assigned by one’s reporting officer.


5.2.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of BSC Engineering in Civil Engineering and must have been registered as Graduate Engineer by relevant Board i.e. Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

5.2.3   REMUNERATION: PGSS 11

6.0    ENGINEERS REGISTRATION BOARD (ERB)

The Engineers Registration Board (ERB) is a statutory body established by the Act No.15 of 1997 as Amended by the Engineers registration (Amendment) Act No. 24 of 2007 with the responsibility of regulating the engineering profession in Tanzania.

6.1       ZONAL OFFICE INCHARGE (Enforcement Work) - (READVERTISED)

The Zonal Officer In-charge will be reporting to the Assistant Registrar –Enforcement on day to day duties. He / She will be supervising the Zonal Offices staffs . The terms of employment will be permanent. Appointed by the Board.

6.1.1   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Zonal Officer In-charge will be as follows:-

Enter and inspect any site for construction, installation, erection, manufacturing, processes, mining alterations or other works of engineering nature for the purpose of ascertaining that the works or services are carried out or performed in compliance with the Engineers Registration Act in supervised zones.

Keep information and data on all inspected projects/works for the purpose of use by the Board as will be required from time to time

Prepare and compile reports on the inspections done by the Board to the construction sites and other engineering projects/works/services in zones.

Follow up on the registration status of engineers as employed by various employers and ensure that only those registered in the relevant categories are employed and work as engineers in supervised zones.

Collect facts and assist in investigation of cases of professional misconduct by engineers and consumers of engineering works/services provided in zones.

Monitor and inspect engineering works and report on its quality and value for money.

Perform any other duties as may be directed from time to time by the AR-E.

Ensure that all resources entrusted to the Zonal Office are well kept and supervised.

6.1.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree in Engineering and must be registered with the Board as a professional engineer. He/she must have a good communication and interpersonal skills and working knowledge of ICT Applications. An applicant who had previously worked as an Enforcement Officer in a similar Institution will have an added advantage.

The applicant should have at least Five years of work experience in a reputable institution. He/She shall also show documentary evidence of participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programmes over the previous 3 years.

6.1.3   AGE

Report on all issues and performance report of the Zone. Age Limit  30-45 years

7.0    DAR ES SALAAM MARITIME INSTITUTE (DMI)

Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) is an Insititute under the Ministry of Transport established by an Act of Parliament No. 22 of 1991. DMI is a specialized Institute for Maritime Education and Training. It develops and produce competent trained and qualified Maritime personnel for World shipping industry.


7.1       ASSISTANT LECTURER– MARINE NAVIGATION DEPARTMENT 1 POST

7.1.1   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching up to NTA level 8 (Bachelors Degree).

Conducts research, seminars and case studies.
Prepares learning resources for tutorial exercises

Carries out consultancy and Community Services under supervision

Supervises students project

Prepares teaching manual, and

Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the head of the relevant department.


7.1.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a relevant Masters Degree or holder of Chief Mate or Second Engineer Certificate of Competency.

7.1.3   REMUNERATION: PHTS 8-9

8.0    TANZANIA AIRPORTS AUTHORITY (TAA)

Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) is a Government Executive Agency established to operate, manage, maintain and develop Government owned airports with a commercially oriented Management style. As Part of implementing its Organizational Structure, TAA hereby invites applications from suitably qualified, creative and results driven candidates to fill the following vacant posts.

8.1 MANAGER CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE 8.1.1 WORK STATION: TAA – Headquarters

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Engineering and Technical Services and will be responsible for the management of construction and maintenance of airport infrastructures and facilities.

8.1.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To identify maintenance requirements of airport infrastructures and facilities.

Prepare maintenance schedules and programs for all airports infrastructures and facilities and follow up its implementation.

To undertake ad hock and emergency maintenance and repairs of airports infrastructures and facilities.

To manage and supervise works and consultancy contracts.

To provide inputs and participate in planning and design of airport infrastructures and facilities.

To review works and consultancy contracts to ensure that the contractual obligations of all parties are met and expected results are achieved.

Manage Succession Planning within the section to ensure that the Department achieves development of its employee to assume position of increasing accountability.

Provide inputs into the development of training packages including post evaluation of all training and development conducted.

Carry out employee performance management (OPRAS) of junior engineers to ensure that the Authority achieves its objectives.

Participating in the preparation of business plans and budgets as well as providing budgetary control of the section.

Performing any other duties related to engineering as assigned by supervisor.


8.1.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with at least seven years progressive working experience in the related field with a sound knowledge of computer applications. The candidate must be a registered Professional Engineer with the Tanzania Engineers Registration Board. Training and experience in Airport Engineering will be an added advantage.

8.1.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 9

8.1.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 45 years.

8.2 INTEGRATED FINANCIAL MANAGEMNT INFORMATION SYSTEM (IFMIS) ADMINISTRATOR – 01 POST

8.2.1   WORK STATION: TAA – Headquarters

The successful candidate will report to the Manager Finance and will be responsible for granting application access to all users of the system, system instillations, providing inputs into fund management and allocation and preparations of financial reports.


8.2.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Granting application access to all users of the system (accounting packages).

The candidates will report to the Airport Manager of Moshi, Tanga and Mbeya Airports and will be responsible for the following functions:

8.19.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•   To maintain cleanliness of the Airport.

Supervise grass cutting and trees at the airstrip.

Ensure that there are navigational aids such as wind socks, edge markers, runways numbering and etc. at the airfield.

Inspect the airstrip and runways twice per day to ensure that there are no foreign objects.

To ensure that the airstrip has adequate security at all times.

Control trespassing and animal grazing at the airport land.

Control airport land from being encroached by farmers, developers or the nearby communities.

Protect the airport from bush fires by creating fire breaks.

Collects monthly aviation statistics including the filling of AS.1 form and sending them to TAA Headquarters.

Prepare monthly airport operational reports including financial returns and sending them to TAA Headquarters.

Liaise with Regional/ District Authorities on airport issues pertaining to sensitization, visits of government officials’ and on security and safety.

Carry out any related duties as assigned by the said Airport Managers.

9.0    SOKOINE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE

The history of Sokoine University of Agriculture dates back to 1965 when it started as an Agricultural College offering diploma training in the discipline of agriculture. With the dissolution of the University of East Africa and the consequent establishment of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) in July 1970, the College was transformed into a Faculty of Agriculture of UDSM and thereby started offering Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. In 1974, the Division of Forestry was established and hence the faculty was named Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. The introduction of Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1976 and the establishment of the Division of Veterinary Science, the Faculty was re-named “Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Sciences”. The Faculty

was on the 1st of July 1984 transformed, through Parliamentary Act No. 6 of 1984, into a full-fledged University and became known as Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) with the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Currently SUA has four faculties namely; the Faculty of Agriculture (FoA), Faculty of Forestry and Nature Conservation (FoF & NC), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) and the Faculty of Science (FoS), the latter which was established in 2001. Other academic units include the Directorate of Research and Postgraduate Studies (DRPGS), Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), Development Studies Institute (DSI), Computer Centre (CC), Pest Management Centre (PMC), SUA Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (SCSRD) and the Sokoine National Agriculture Library (SNAL). SUA also hosts the African Seed Health Centre and Virtual Centre known as “Southern African Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance”.


9.1 ASSISTANT LECTURER - WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AND CONSERVATION / ZOOLOGY (1 POST)

9.1.1   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducting lectures and practicals for undergraduate programmes and assisting senior staff in lectures and practicals, seminars, tutorials for postgraduate programmes as part of their learning

Preparing case studies

Conducting and/or assisting in tutorials and seminars

Working in co-operation with senior members on specific projects

Supervising special projects for undergraduate students

Designing and developing research proposals

Conducting and publishing research results

Carrying out consultancy and   community services

Assist in writing teaching manuals and compendia

Attending workshops, conferences and symposia

Any other duty that may be assigned by the relevant authority

9.1.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Master of Science in Conservation Sciences, Wildlife Management or Zoology from a recognized University. Applicants must have Bachelors degree with GPA of not less than 3.5 in the field related and a good Masters degree.

9.2 ASSISTANT LECTURER (1 POST) 9.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

9.2.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Master in Computer Science (specializing in Artificial Intelligence). The candidate should have at least two (2) years working experience in teaching knowledge based systems and either computer graphics or image processing or artificial intelligence. Competence in computer programming in low-level and high-level programming language will be an added advantage. Women with the above qualification are highly encouraged to apply.

9.3       OFFICE  ATTENDANT I (2 POSTS)
9.3.1   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•   Cleaning of offices, Estates,  Workshop, Equipments.

•   Movement of files. Documents, machinery tool, equipments.

•   Ensuring  that  all     properties  and  assets  at  the  work  place  are  properly kept  and

safeguarded Messengerial works and other related activities.

9.3.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a secondary school certificate.

9.3.3   REMUNERATION:  PGSS 5

9.4 LABORATORY ASSISTANT III (VETERINARY LABORATORY) (1 POST)
9.4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining cleanliness in the in the Laboratory including cleaning equipment and
glassware
Performing specified laboratory jobs.
Taking care of Laboratory instruments and equipments
Performing other related duties as my be assigned.
9.4.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a secondary school certificate with two years training in the Laboratory Assistants Training Programme or a certificate in Laboratory Technology/Sciences.

9.4.3   REMUNERATION: PGSS 6


9.5 TRAINED NURSE/MIDWIFE (1 POST) 9.5.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting in taking nursing care of patients, maternal mothers and their children.

Assisting in administering of drugs and treatment as prescribed by the Medical Officer.

Giving preventive medicine service for Public Health Nurse as directed by the Medical Officer.

Performing other related duties as may be assigned.


9.5.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a secondary school certificate PLUS certificate in Nursing Grade “B” and Midwives (section B) or Public Health Nurse section “B” Parts “I” and “II” or equivalent qualifications.

9.5.3       REMUNERATION: PMGSS 4


9.6 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN III (SOIL LABORATORY) (1POST)
9.6.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting   in   performing   routine   technical   tasks   under   the   supervision   of   an
experienced technician.

Assisting in taking samples for laboratory investigations.

Assisting in the repair and maintenance of laboratory/ workshop facilities.

Assisting in field operations/ research activities.

Assisting in implementing technical plans and designs.

Performing other related duties as may be assigned.




9.6.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a secondary school certificate PLUS a Diploma in Laboratory Technology/Sciences.

9.6.3   REMUNERATION: PUSS 4/5
