Oxfam has worked in the Philippines since 1987. Our work focuses on lobbying for change through our advocacy work, increasing opportunities for women through our development work, dealing with disasters, both through response and preparedness measures and through our humanitarian programme. Your leadership of the country office will be critical to our continued success.

The roles

As the Country Director you'll be responsible for developing and implementing a country strategy that will continue to have a huge impact on our work in the Philippines. Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager and heading up the Country Leadership team, you'll drive a coordinated approach to ensure that programmes are managed, monitored and implemented effectively - carrying out ongoing analysis of the political, social and economical situation in order to set the overall country direction. You'll also draw on your outstanding relationship skills to build alliances and partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders including government officials, donor agencies and other NGOs, representing Oxfam to the highest possible level on both a regional and global scale. And as a real force for positive change, you'll work with the Country Leadership team to identify and negotiate new funding sources in support of our work.

What we're looking for

This is a very high profile role. Which is why we're looking for an inspirational and strategic leader with extensive experience of programme leadership. Ideally you will have both development and humanitarian experience and you will be able to use field work as levers for policy change. . You'll know all about managing donor and partner relationships, as well as leading multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams. And you'll have an understanding of the factors driving poverty, marginalisation and vulnerability in a country like the Philippines - thinking politically and strategically to influence challenging situations. From a practical standpoint, you must be adept at managing budgets. But just as important is the ability to speak English fluently
