Department

Radio & Music Multiplatform is the BBC department responsible for the digital development of Radio brands and content on a range of platforms. We pioneer and deliver audience-facing services online, on Red Button, DTV, DAB and in social media spaces.  The Multiplatform team creates and manages digital and multiplatform content for the UK’s foremost speech-based radio network. The team builds and maintains content across all platforms including online and mobile, and works with production colleagues to keep all digital spaces up-to-date and engaging for our audiences. 

Role

Your main responsibility will be to provide general editorial leadership and supervision to the Radio 4 Multiplatform team and to develop and maintain the operational aspects of its output. You will also have accountability for the daily delivery of the content area’s output and assisting the planning and delivery of new projects and additions to existing output. You will also lead the team on an operational basis and maintain good relationships with the main content sources. You will also consider multi-platform views of all content, including mobile and IPTV.

Requirements

You will need a commitment to and understanding of Radio 4 and 4 Extra and its audiences and the UK radio marketplace. You will need a good understanding of how social media can be used to increase reach and engagement along with knowledge of the wider digital industry and ability to keep up with current trends and working practices. You will need experience of working in multiplatform production, along with some project management experience relating to managing both projects and teams.
