Senior Court Records Assistant , Leidschendam


Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year duration limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). This appointment and any subsequent extension(s) are subject to terms of the Tribunal’s mandate and/or the availability of funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a UN organization. However, STL follows the UN common system for benefits and entitlements to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
The intention of this vacancy announcement for rostering purposes is to fill future vacant positions with suitable candidates found through this exercise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the overall supervision of the Legal Officer on Judicial Matters, directly reporting to the Legal Officer (Courtroom Coordination) and in close cooperation with the Case File Officer, the incumbent: •Receives, files, and disseminates official court records both electronically and in hardcopy (when required);
•Continuously monitors and trains the Court Records Assistants;
•Organises and prioritises the work of the court records office;
•Prepares regular statistical reports as requested, for the Registrar;
•Maintains the organization of the case and correspondence file in the Court Management database and in the electronic legal workflow system (“Legal Workflow”), and manages and organizes the hard copy case and correspondence file in accordance with the relevant instructions;
•Acts as primary focal point for all queries (from the Chambers, parties and/or other Registry sections/units) in relation to the processing of court records and judicial correspondence requested, by external (Chambers, parties and/or other Registry sections) queries for information in relation to the court records and judicial correspondence;
•When required or on own initiative suggests amendments/improvements to SOPs regulating the processing of court records and judicial correspondence;
•Assesses the needs of the team and communicates them to the supervisors for further action if necessary;
•Assists the Case File Officer when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
•Experience: At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a similar position of which at least two have been spent in an international tribunal/Court.
•Languages: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post proficiency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
