Senior Managing editor

ESN is looking for a full-time senior editor with considerable experience in writing, editing and managing communication products.

Mission

Your task will be to manage an expanding editorial team producing a range of web, printed, audio-visual and social media products for various clients at the European Commission. Tasks will include:

• Advising clients on content strategy and products
• Lead writer/editor for a variety of communication deliverables
• Quality control of editorial deliverables
• Managing daily tasks and outputs of the editorial team
• Coordinating editorial work flow and planning

As well as ensuring the delivery of outstanding communication products, you will be expected to provide clients with pertinent advice and to anticipate and explore their future needs, in close co-operation with ESN’s account manager and project management team.

Profile

We are looking for a native English-speaking journalist who is creative, dependable, well-organised and can handle tight deadlines. Candidates should have a strong background in communication, with practical working knowledge of a wide range of modern methods and tools.

Essential characteristics (please do not apply unless you match all of these):

• Native English speaker with a journalistic background
• Proven writing and editing experience in fields such as life or natural sciences, R&D, ICT, biotechnology, industry, SMEs, EU issues, etc.
• Minimum five years’ relevant experience.
• Familiarity with modern web, print and social media communication technologies and approaches
• Diplomacy, excellent people skills and the ability to work simultaneously with a number of different clients
• Excellent journalistic skills including writing, interviewing, editing and quality control
• Working knowledge/use of French
• University degree (Bachelors or Masters)
