Responsibilities:
The Economist position is a unique assignment, seen as a development role that will offer candidates a chance to learn broad aspects of not only the Chemicals business, but also provide exposure to some major investment projects within Downstream and Upstream.
The Economist will assist the New Business Development team in developing project scope proposals, analyses and presentations for internal and external key stakeholders. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of value drivers and profitability of project proposals will be made by the Economist as the projects move into and through the opportunity development funnel.

Requirements:
- The economist will be required to collect and interpret data from a wide range of sources; be creative and apply accurately analysis of that data into project proposals and presentations;
- Experience of quantitative analysis of project economics and competitiveness analysis is required along with a demonstrated track record of good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders. Candidates should be willing to learn and work with uncertainty yet base his/her work on sound logic and assumptions.
- The role requires the economist to prepare for and support the NBD team negotiations with (mostly government) prospective partners.
- Also, developing meaningful insights, through studies/reports/network to support growth strategy and opportunity development.
- Experience in Chemicals is not strictly necessary but a desire to learn is important. Commercial experience or experience in 'the world of hydrocarbons' is an asset, as is Project Management experience
