Freight Lead – South America

Sandvik Mining, the leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry, is currently looking for a Freight Lead – South America.

The Role

In this key role, the Freight Lead will be responsible for ensuring safe and cost effective transportation of freight across all modes within a given geographical area including management and continuous improvement of the freight service, cost and quality of delivery.

Key Performance Areas

• Carrier performance review execution
• Ensures customs clearance for inbound freight, where applicable
• Freight processes and procedures definition, implementation or enforcement
• Alignment with regional/global teams on improvement initiatives
• Transportation network analysis
• Carrier contract negotiations
• Carrier quality compliance
• Freight project management
• Monitors and controls personnel expenses including travel and other costs according to Company policy
• Freight invoice audit and invoice dispute management
• Regular auditing of freight carrier rate agreement compliance
• Reports all accidents, incidents, and injuries immediately and completes all required documentation

Your Profile

• BA/BS degree/College Diploma within Business/Supply Chain Operations is an asset
• Minimum of three years of experience in logistics/freight/supply chain management including freight network/process solution design
• Solid understanding of freight management and logistics operations
• Strong Analytical skills
• Ability to handle large amount of information and data
• Ability to operate independently and without close supervision
• Interest to work in a global network
• Sound judgment
• High integrity
• Strong written and verbal communications; fluent in English
• Able to deal effectively and tactfully with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/customers/regulatory operations
• Skilled in all Microsoft tools such as Projects, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio and Access
• Fluency in Spanish and/or French are assets
• Experience using Oracle business/inventory database systems or similar
