Organizer - Michigan Workers Organizing Committee

The campaign to fight for fair wages and the right to form a union without interference for fast food and retail workers is currently seeking candidates for organizing positions covering central and southeastern Michigan.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and implementing organizing strategy and campaign plans;
  • Identify, recruit and develop workers to participate in organizing process;
  • Prepare outreach literature;
  • Develop working relationships with community and political allies.
Job Requirements:
  • Strong commitment to social justice and the labor movement;
  • College degree or experience as a local activist or experience in community or grassroots organizing;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others;
  • Ability to solve problems creatively;
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
  • Willingness to work long hours;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team;
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license, auto insurance and a reliable automobile, for business use.
