Organizer - Michigan Workers Organizing Committee
The campaign to fight for fair wages and the right to form a union without interference for fast food and retail workers is currently seeking candidates for organizing positions covering central and southeastern Michigan.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing organizing strategy and campaign plans;
- Identify, recruit and develop workers to participate in organizing process;
- Prepare outreach literature;
- Develop working relationships with community and political allies.
Job Requirements:
- Strong commitment to social justice and the labor movement;
- College degree or experience as a local activist or experience in community or grassroots organizing;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated ability to motivate others;
- Ability to solve problems creatively;
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures;
- Willingness to work long hours;
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team;
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license, auto insurance and a reliable automobile, for business use.
