Child Protection Technical Programme Manager

Contract Length: 12 Months
The Role:
The role holder will oversee Child Protection programs in Northern Syria (Idlib, Aleppo etc with the possibility to expand in to other areas) and develop programme strategy, Child Protection standards, proposal development and grant reporting. They will directly manage grants in Northern Syria, and lead on programme planning, oversight of programme implementation, recruitment and procurement.
A key priority of this role is to work day to day with the National Technical Coordinator building their capacity in technical and programme management skills, with the aim of transferring this capacity to the Child Protection field team.
In addition the role holder will also support partners to develop their programmes and build their capacity to respond as well as taking responsibility for mainstreaming child protection across other sector of interventions. They will also have a lead role in the development and implementation of the Child Safeguarding system.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Required
- Master's degree in Social Work, Human Rights, International Relations or relevant field, or BA with equivalent field experience
- Extensive experience of Child Protection programme management in emergency, fragile state or development contexts and at least 3 years of experience in the management of programmes specific to Child Protection in Emergency
- Previous experience of managing a child protection team at national level
- Previous experience in setting up organisational child safeguarding systems in humanitarian contexts
- Experience of remote managing programmes in complex settings
- Proven capacity to supervise, and coach staff in child protection technical skills and programme management
- Experience of, and commitment to, working through systems of community participation and accountability
- Specific experience of designing and managing DFID, ECHO, OFDA and other major donor projects and understanding of donor compliance
- Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically
- Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
- Excellent understanding of the Monitoring and Evaluation processes and methodologies - with specific technical trainings in these areas. Proven ability to represent the organisation to donors and other stakeholders
- Familiarity with key international standards for humanitarian work (e.g. Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, SPHERE, MHPSS IASC guidelines, Inter-agency guiding principles on UASC, etc.). team player who is able to work collaboratively and with people of diverse backgrounds
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
- A high level of written and spoken English
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children including willingness to abide and enforce the Child Safeguarding Policy. In particular, a good understanding of the mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.

- Language skills in Arabic
- Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
- Experience working and building the capacity of partners on technical issues
