Sexuality is a natural aspect of everyone's life.
As an international centre of expertise, Rutgers WPF carries out research and develops programmes for use in education and the healthcare sectors. We also advocate at national, European and international level. We work mainly in the Netherlands, Asia and Africa. The organisation consists of approximately 90 members of staff. Our head office is located in Utrecht. We have two field offices in Asia and are in the process of setting up a field office in Africa.

Adviser on Engaging Men in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and in Gender Justice(M/F) (0,8 fte) (vacancy number 2014-15)
Patriarchal culture strongly influences the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of women and men and the relationships. Changing these social and cultural norms by actively including men is part of the programmes of Rutgers WPF.
Job description
The adviser supports and advises the Manager of International Programmes, the Country Coordinators and the partner organisations using a technical and scientific approach. The focus is on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, gender, and the involvement of (young) men. Due to the job content, male candidates are strongly asked to respond.
Tasks
Based on your technical expertise, you contribute actively to the design, development and operation of (country) programmes and projects in the area of SRHR, gender, and boys and men in particular. Capacity building and training of partner organisations are an important part of this. You contribute to policy- and strategy development. You also promote the development and strengthening of relevant networks and (new) partnerships. The publishing and documenting of project- and programme experiences is your responsibility. You represent the organisation at partner organisations, national and international organisations and conferences, etc. You deliver substantive contributions to international expert groups in the work fields mentioned. You commit yourself to acquisition.
Job requirements
  • The job demands an academic education level.
  • At least five years knowledge of and experience with international policy development, the preparation and execution of projects and programmes aimed at SRHR, gender and men.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and problem identification as well as knowledge of intervention strategies.
  • Didactic skills in the development and execution of trainings and methodologies. Knowlege of and skills in interacting with diverse cultures and religions.
  • Knowledge of global themes and trends and the translation of these to one's own work.
  • Good communication skills in foreign languages (verbal and written) in which the English language is a prerequisite.
  • Social skills in maintaining relationships and making sensitive issues discussible.
  • An innovative thinker, an enthusiastic and inspiring personality, independent and a team player.
Working conditions
The position is temporary for a one year period whit the possibility of an extension. Working conditions are according to the Collective Labour Agreement for the Healthcare sector (CAO-GGZ). Depending on knowledge and experience, salary will amount to a maximum of EU 3.670,- gross per month (FWG scale 55) for a 36-hour working week.
