Senior Web Developer
Transparency International Georgia, the national chapter of the global Transparency International anti-corruption movement in the country of Georgia , seeks a full-time Senior web developer to design and create innovative and engaging websites and software tools that will support TI Georgia’s mission of promoting transparency and accountability of those in power within Georgia.
TI Georgia’s past technology projects have included a local implementation of the FixMyStreet concept, an SMS alert system for tracking the progress of bills through the Georgian Parliament, and scraping various types of data made available by the Georgian government.
This is a full-time position, and you’ll be based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Therefore, it will be the opportunity for you to enjoy this very beautiful country, its excellent food, and get to meet very interesting locals, as well as a dynamic group of expats!
Responsibilities:
- Work with project managers and other TI Georgia staff to assess the organization’s technological needs, and propose solutions.
- Design and implement solutions to TI Georgia’s assessed needs using appropriate software tools.
- Seek out and discover cutting-edge technologies which can help TI Georgia perform its work better or faster, or can enhance the organization’s outreach capabilities.
- Maintain and improve TI Georgia’s existing technology platforms.
Qualifications for successful candidates:
- Have a demonstrated passion for using technology to address governance and democracy issues.
- Enjoy learning new technology tools, and be able to do so rapidly and independently.
- Have significant software and/or web development experience using any (and preferably many) of the following technologies: Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl, Java, Javascript, C++, HTML, CSS, bash scripting, Django, Rails, Spring, CouchDB, MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache, nginx, Git, Mercurial, and others.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- The willingness and desire to relocate long-term to Georgia.
How to apply:
Write a computer program, in any form and programming language you choose, that outputs a list of licensed broadcasters in Georgia and the hyperlink to their associated declaration of ownership documentation. You can retrive the list of these broadcasters at http://gncc.ge/index.php?lang_id=GEO&sec_id=50051 by submitting the search form with a blank value.
Your program does not need to be perfect; if you spend more than a few hours working on it, just submit the code and output as-is.

- A copy of your program’s source code and output.
- A short explanation (200 words or less) of how your program works and any work still to be done (include an explanation of how you would fix any known bugs or implement missing features)
