Chief of Party, Honduras

ACDI/VOCA currently has 60 projects in 30 countries and revenues of approximately $168 million.
Chief of Party, Honduras
We are currently seeking a Chief of Party (COP) for an upcoming agricultural development and food security project in Honduras. The multiyear project will strengthen rural and agricultural market systems and expand economic opportunities to boost incomes and improve household-level nutrition and health of Honduras’ rural poor. The project will likely be based in Tegucigalpa and will require extensive local travel.
Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic leadership, technical direction, day-to-day quality control and direct supervision of a large professional and support staff.
- Guides overall implementation of the program and its objectives.
- Ensures results and deliverables are being achieved on schedule, resources are being used effectively, staff is performing, partners are meeting their commitments, and deliverables are of the highest quality.
- Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with private and public sector leaders at the highest levels, serving as the program’s senior representative to Inversión Estratégica de Honduras (INVEST-Honduras), the Government of Honduras, and the international donor community.
- Provides advice and guidance to clients to define their needs for technical assistance. Designs, facilitates and oversees market-driven interventions that are responsive to client needs.
- Establishes the administrative framework to monitor and assure progress toward the achievements of the program’s goals and objectives.
· Ensures all program activities are in strict adherence to donor rules and regulations, the terms of the award, ACDI/VOCA’s policies and procedures, and Honduran law.
- Represents ACDI/VOCA to program stakeholders and at meetings, workshops and other events.
- Oversees budgets, fund disbursal and financial records ensuring that program expenditures are in compliance with ACDI/VOCA and donor policies as well as within the scope of the program budget.
Qualifications:
- Required Master’s Degree or higher in agriculture, business, economics, agricultural economics, management, public health/sanitation, or another related/appropriate field.
- At least 15 years of progressively more responsible international work experience in economic growth and/or development programs required, with at least ten years’ experience in Spanish-speaking Latin American countries.
- Experience as COP on at least two development projects of a similar scope (addressing rural gender disparities, food security, rural and agricultural development and/or nutrition and health).
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience addressing rural gender disparities, creating economic opportunities for women’s leadership, and participation in food security programs.
- Demonstrable communication skills are required, both written and oral.
- Proven track record for achieving income and/or nutrition results as Chief of Party or in other senior management positions is required.
- Clear track record of client orientation is required, and well as an expert level of knowledge in either agriculture or nutrition. Must have proven experience managing sub-partners to activity results.
- Language Proficiency: Level IV (Fluency) English and Spanish are required.
