Lead Buyer
Sandvik Hyperion has been created within Sandvik Venture to be the home of a world-class hard and super-hard materials company.
Sandvik Hyperion is looking for a Lead Buyer at their Worthington, OH location.
Key Performance Areas
- Screen and process Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders for assigned categories
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and project leaders as the primary stakeholders in those categories
- Build strong relationships with and develop suppliers
- Develop Strategic Sourcing & Logistics strategies that aligns Sandvik Hyperion with strategic supplier partners that will add value and support the business demands
- Actively participate in critical supplier interactions to ensure that supplier performance meets financial and operational or project objectives.
- Manage the purchasing process, including development and data collection for RFP packages, analysis of RFP responses using supplier score cards to select suppliers based on objective criteria & strategic fit, and negotiating contracts utilizing total lowest cost as the primary objective
- Prepare spend reports and cost/bid analyses
- Support IT for purchasing and automation initiatives with testing and feedback as needed
- Review and process Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders for assigned categories
- Review and negotiate site contracts, escalating within the Indirect Purchasing organization as needed in cooperation and compliance with the Indirect Purchasing organization
- Work to identify and implement cost savings projects to meet or exceed site savings target
- Utilize indirect purchasing savings tracker tools
Your Profile
- Undergraduate degree in purchasing, supply chain, finance, logistics or equivalent experience
- ISM C.P.M. or CPSM certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience or applicable related experience in indirect goods, services, and capital expenditures
- Experience reviewing contracts and negotiating contract terms and conditions
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems, Lotus Notes, Business Objects, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is preferred
- Strong computer-related skills and analytic problem solving abilities
- Experience in cross functional teams at all levels of the business
- Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively interact in a manufacturing setting
- Comfortable in a team setting with willingness to work together to manage a dynamic workload
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to multi-task, strong time management skills, and excellent decision making capabilities
- Ability to effectively solicit information, negotiate, and administer change
- Up to 25% travel for supplier visits and Indirect Purchasing conferences
