Operational Buyer (Level 2)

Sandvik Hyperion has been created within Sandvik Venture to be the home of a world-class hard and super-hard materials company.
Sandvik Hyperion is looking for an Operational Buyer (Level 2) at their Worthington, OH location.
Key Performance Areas
  • Screen and process Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders for assigned categories
  • Manage the purchasing process, including development and data collection for RFP packages, analysis of RFP responses using supplier score cards to select suppliers based on objective criteria & strategic fit, and negotiating contracts utilizing total lowest cost as the primary objective
  • Prepare spend reports and cost/bid analyses
  • Analyze spend information to identify potential cost-savings opportunities
  • Research and implement best practice sourcing techniques for indirect sourcing commodities
  • Develop and administer surveys / scorecards to determine internal customer satisfaction levels with preferred suppliers
  • Assist in performing random audits on suppliers to ensure that they are complying with negotiated contract terms and conditions
  • Participate in cross functional teams to improve current processes, solve problems, and identify and implement cost savings projects
  • Work with accounts payable, shipping, receiving and vendors to resolve discrepancies
  • Determine best purchase method for existing & future MRO items
  • Negotiate favorable payment terms with suppliers to enhance cash flow
  • Assist in developing Strategic Sourcing & Logistics Strategies with strategic suppliers while assuring tactical and operational compliance to develop the supply base and utilize Supplier Performance evaluations
  • Build and grow a relationship with the site buyers
Your Profile
  • Undergraduate degree in purchasing, supply chain, finance, logistics or equivalent experience
  • ISM C.P.M. or CPSM certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience or applicable related experience in indirect goods, services, and capital expenditures
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively interact in a manufacturing setting
  • Adequate level of technical and/or mechanical aptitude competence to understand mechanical parts, equipment and processes
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP system, Lotus Notes, Business Objects, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is preferred
  • Strong computer-related skills and analytic problem solving abilities
  • Confident in abilities to effectively solicit information, negotiate, and administer change    
  • Experience in cross-functional team settings
  • Ability to multi-task, strong time management skills, and excellent decision making capabilities
