Introduction

Sandvik Hyperion develops manufactures and markets a wide range of cemented carbide and diamond products that help to improve the productivity and profitability of our customers. We are looking for a R&D Engineer who is seeking an opportunity to develop within a thriving team based in Coventry. This new team is based in our state-of-the-art laboratory which has benefited from a recent investment in both buildings and equipment.

The Role

The role will involve:

• Independently plan and perform material analysis and test method development.
• Deliver recommendations, reports and presentations on customer samples to all levels of the organization.
• Project Management of key R&D projects.
• Working within teams to drive industrialization of developments and opportunities.
• Working with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Collaborating with Universities and other external research centres.

Your Profile

The successful candidate should:

• Possess a Ph.D. / M.S. in Engineering or Science with strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, analytical and solid conceptual skills.
• Have 3-5 years or more of industrial experience, in Mechanical/ Manufacturing environment being advantageous.
• Knowledge of cemented carbides and powder metallurgical manufacturing processes is an advantage.
• Experience within a commercial lab and knowledge of powder characterisation and related physical science techniques.
• Demonstrate ability in project management and prioritization skills.
• Show awareness of personal impact on others and act as a role model to junior engineers.
• Be customer-focused and have strong commercial awareness.
• Be computer literate and have a good command of verbal and written English.
• Ability to speak another language, especially Spanish, is a strong benefit.

Be willing to travel internationally and spend periods of up to a month at a time abroad
