Business Leader - Quality

Cameronbridge Distilling operations has the responsibility for the production of grain whisky and of Gin & Vodka Premium spirits. In addition the distillery has the largest integrated Bioenergy Centre in the industry.
Stretching service, cost, quality (e.g. botanical quality for Gin Production) requirements demand that all assets operate at optimal performance.
The jobholder will be part of an integrated Technical function. This will require the ability to operate in both functional and cross-functional teams within ISC Distillation & Maturation as well as the ability to lead on own area of expertise (Laboratory analysis services).

About the Role

The overall objective of the role is to lead and develop a team of 10 to 17 level 6 Quality Control Analysts at Cameronbridge Distillery Laboratory. The candidate must ensure to 
Coordinate in conjunction with Business Leader of SPA (Leven SS) Laboratory the staff flexibility between both laboratories. The role requires a high level of technical support and advice to optimise and continually improve production efficiencies, cost and service, whilst maintaining product quality at Distillery.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • To work along with a team of technical specialists in order to support and advise on analysis.
  • To provide a high level of technical support and advice to optimise and continuous improvement of the business KPI’s.
  • To maintain and develop business / technical information systems to meet requirements of Grain Distilling.
  • To Manage a Laboratory budget
  • To coordinate and implement a plan of capital expenditure to sustain and improve laboratory performance.
  • To keep abreast of technical advances in analysis to develop and improve laboratory benchmark performance.
  • To implement and sustain manufacturing excellence principals across the laboratory
  • To ensure that the level of technical knowledge in-house is maintained at a level that will facilitate technical development of key laboratory personnel.

Experience and Qualifications Required
 
  • Ideally, degree, or equivalent, in relevant discipline or Diploma IBD
  • Appropriate knowledge of regulations appertaining to the food industry
  • Appropriate Health and Safety qualification and/or relevant experience.
  • Appropriate knowledge of Customs and Excise procedures.
  • Experience in production or a central support technical role.
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant processes within the remit of ISC Grain Distilling
  • Proven track record in delivering technical support and advice.
  • Relevant Health and Safety experience.
  • Experienced in leading and delivering projects within a functional team.
  • Experienced in working in a partnership/service orientated environment.
  • Experienced in working in a quality management environment.
