Job Description

Job Purpose
 
To ensure that decisions made by internal clients are informed by an accurate understanding of market, customer, consumer or employee insight, by undertaking customer analysis, synthesizing data and providing high quality insight reports, and by ensuring the integrity of data sources
 
Job Dimensions
  • Support delivery of BA’s Research & Insight programme
  • Support management of expenditure budget

Principal Accountabilities

  • Champions the customer within the context of decisions made by internal BA customers/client areas
  • Proactively & reactively synthesizes a broad range of data sources and conducts causal analysis to produce reports and actionable insight, which informs and supports decision making across the business
  • Provides internal client areas with guidance on data usage and application, based on a clear understanding of statistical reliability and data integrity alongside industry best practice
  • Identifies new information sources and leading edge data insight tools and techniques that can be utilized to BA’s advantage
  • Assists in managing the operational relationships with appropriate 3rd party suppliers and internal teams supporting the delivery of BA surveys/trackers measuring:
    • Customer Satisfaction (across all touch points)
    • Competitor Position
    • Global Brand & Communications
    • Reputation
  • Provides analytical support to inform the prioritization of investment decisions, forecasting the potential impacts, and then monitors the performance of investment outcomes
  • Supports the management of R&I budget and process

The Individual

Skills
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical approach
  • Accomplished in data extraction and exploitation
  • Ability to critically evaluate data and draw conclusions from analysis, ensuring the right inferences are made in their interpretation
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organisation and time management
  • Good interpersonal skills to ensure effective working and influencing across a matrix organisation
  • Self-starter with high level of enthusiasm, energy and resilience
  • Is responsive to requests and shows initiative in finding and delivering solutions from a range of sources
  • Ability to apply customer thinking and data within a commercial context, utilizing knowledge of the business and its strategy
  • Customer expert with sufficient understanding of customer needs and aspirations to help inform decision making
Experience
  • Good commercial and business understanding, including relevant market and competitor awareness
  • Experience of working with large data sets
  • Displays ability to synthesize a range of data sources to produce recommendations and insight that drives decision making
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams
Expertise
  • Understanding of statistical analysis techniques and when to apply them
  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as SAS, SQL, Excel, SPSS
