JOB SUMMARY
The mission of the Africa-Europe Development Platform (AEDP) is to 'improve and enhance the capacity and impact of the African diaspora organisations that are involved in development activities in Africa'. This mission is pursued through delivery of a range of online and in-person services to diaspora organisations and individuals in Europe and Africa. In particular, AEDP will help diaspora organisations in the 28 European Union (EU) countries as well as Switzerland and Norway. Service users will be helped to: optimise their development engagement in Africa; professionalise their organisations and activities; create effective partnerships in Europe and Africa; expand and improve their development activities in Africa; and influence the policy and practice of development cooperation.
The main outputs linked to the Communications & Engagement Manager’s job/position are to:
- Produce and implement a communication, engagement and social marketing strategy;
- Create and manage an interactive and user-friendly online diaspora-development platform;
- Manage databases, multimedia campaigns and engagement with diaspora stakeholders.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in fluent English and French;
- Ability to produce professional corporate brand across different multimedia communication channels;
- Ability and experience of increasing hits to websites, Facebook, blogs and social media accounts;
- Ability to create databases and maintain engagement with diaspora-development stakeholders;
- Ability to design and manage successful public relations and multimedia campaigns in Europe and Africa;
- Good knowledge of the policy and practice relating to diaspora, migration and development;
- Good understanding of African diaspora organisations and networks in Europe.
