Market Development Technical Specialist, TajikistanWe are currently seeking a Market Development Technical Specialist for an upcoming multi-year program in Tajikistan. The program aims to increase production and market access for rural farmers, increase household incomes, improve household nutrition and sanitation, and strengthen profitable employment opportunities in the agricultural sector. Market Development Technical Specialist responsibilities for this program include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

• Lead team activities associated with marketing of agriculture products sourced from the Khatlon Region
• Conduct market and value chain research and assisting partners with technical knowledge and other support necessary to increase sales of their agricultural products
• Lead the Projects Objective for Value Added Investment which includes Partner Identification and Investor Capacity Building
• Conduct market research, assessments and surveys for agricultural value chains supported by the project for marketing products sourced from Khatlon on a quarterly basis
• Regularly gather primary and secondary source market related data, information about new markets for existing products and new products utilizing agricultural products from Western Khatlon for existing markets
• Lead Investment Activities to identify partners, and catalyze local investment projects
• Support interested groups to apply for investment support
• Help pre-approved investors develop business plans
• Assist selected Export and Agriculture Association (Key Partners) to build their capacity to expanding membership and improve linkages with suppliers in Khatlon
• Identify opportunities for program interventions and work closely with the Project team to design initiatives to bridge market gaps and production linkage

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in related field (business, finance, development economics, agriculture or other related field)
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in marketing, market research, quality standards and trade promotion
• Proficiency in Tajik language
• Written and oral proficiency in English and Russian languages is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, communication, coordination and management skills
• Ability to make independent and sound decisions
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines
