PRODUCT ENGINEER, FIRE SUPPRESSION

The role
The Product Development Engineer will be the Product Engineering and Design expert for the Fire Suppression product line globally. This specifically includes critical projects, improvements & technical product sales solutions.
This position will need to work closely with the Global Product Line Manager to ensure the regions are working within current standards and product space.
Key performance areas
  • Adhere to all policies & procedures especially the EHS policies
  • Global expert in the design and engineering of Fire suppression. Well versed with all relevant standards (Australian and International) and current industry best practice, including being conversant with papers related to the design of this equipment. Must be able to discuss these concepts at length.
  • High level of knowledge in relation to manufacturing / assembly processes relating to the product area. The ability to refine designs for cost efficiency and a proven ability to identify most appropriate technically conforming equipment selections.
  • Provide positive leadership to achieve a proactive Engineering team through clear definition of goals, roles and responsibilities aligned with the Sandvik Fire Suppression vision.
  • Provide positive and constructive input to the enhancement of Sandvik Fire Suppression Engineering, through proactive personal and team target setting.
  • Actively works to continually improve enhance and grow Sandvik Fire Suppression Engineering through innovation creativity and effective use of feedback and department reviews.
  • Assists with the purchasing of products from suppliers and sales of products to high end customers and OEM’s though the facilitation of technical information, feedback and collaboration.
  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Provide feedback and updates of activities through monthly and/or quarterly schedules.
  • Maintains effective communication and builds on relationships with all Sandvik Departments. In addition effective communication with all external parties.
Your profile
You should possess a bachelor degree in either mechanical, mining, materials or geological engineering along with a minimum of 3 years direct industry experience. A minimum of 5+ years’ direct field and sales experience relevant to the product area would also be considered.
A strong understanding of the mining industry and work practices is desirable along with experience with Sandvik Mining and Construction product range will be a distinct advantage for this role.
