institutional fundraiser

Heifer Nederland is a small, effective Dutch NGO that is an independent member of the international Heifer network. This network has a long history in fighting hunger and poverty by promoting sustainable livestock and integrated farming systems, entrepreneurship and gender equity. Heifer Nederland leads the institutional fundraising in Europe for this international network. In order to successfully implement this lead role, Heifer Nederland is looking for a second Institutional Fundraiser (m/f).
The Institutional Fundraiser will work with colleagues in Heifer Nederland, Heifer Project International and other allies to successfully develop large-scale program proposals and scale up Heifer's program impact.
Responsibilities:
  • Identify funding opportunities at the EU and its member states, and stay current on key funders' development policies,
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships in the Netherlands and Europe with relevant governments, civil society organisations and private sector players,
  • Cooperate with Heifer program staff and allies in order to write and win large-scale project proposals,
  • Work with companies and Heifer field offices to establish public private partnerships and shared value initiatives,
  • Contribute to the development of institutional and private sector strategies of Heifer Nederland and the Heifer network,
  • Train project staff in the use of proposal development tools, in order to build their proposal writing capacity,
  • Prepare Terms of References for consultants and coordinate their work in proposal development-related assignments,
  • Participate in project-design missions to Heifer Project International country offices,
  • Perform other job-related assignments.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in agro-economics, business administration or related area, plus 5 years of work experience,
  • Extensive experience in partnership development, project design, budgeting and proposal writing,
  • Strong network in institutional environments, private sector and civil society,
  • Experience in development of public private partnerships and shared value initiatives,
  • Knowledge of the financial and administrative procedures of institutional donors, notably the EU and DGIS,
  • Demonstrated success in winning large scale (over EU 1 million) project proposals,
  • Proficiency in English and preferably in French and Spanish,
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills,
  • Ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment and cope with deadlines,
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively
