University Academic Fellow / University Clinical Academic Fellow in Health and Social Care Research

The School of Healthcare delivers high quality, interdisciplinary applied research and research-led teaching complemented by major strengths in applied health research across the University of Leeds.  Our research underpins policy, practice and education and makes a positive difference to health and well-being.  We have a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and service user and carer involvement in research projects.  We have one overarching grouping for our research activity: Long-Term Conditions and Self-Management (LTC&SM), particularly among older people.
Our research is organised around topic areas; pain and cancer care, medicines management, wound management, NHS workforce, mental health and maternal, child and family health.  In addition we have two areas that cut across projects; decision making and methodological development.  The University has several ‘big themes’ that cross disciplines, for example, water, sleep, cities, and the management of big data.  Any applications that are able to link the School themes with the wider University themes will be particularly welcomed. The fellow would also be expected to submit applications for a personal fellowship, for example, NIHR postdoctoral fellowship programme, and small individual or networking research grants as well as work with colleagues across the schools to submit larger grants.
The successful Fellow will benefit from existing research infrastructure and be part of a growing number of Research/Senior Research fellows based in the school.
We are seeking high calibre, collaborative individuals whose research interests complement the academic activities of the School of Healthcare.
The successful Fellow will be highly motivated and have a sustained track record of high quality health and social care or related research.  The Fellow will demonstrate a clear aptitude for developing innovative, collaborative research projects on a trajectory to support their academic career.  Applicants should have experience in teaching delivery and assessment and be prepared to take a leadership role as part of the education community.
Applications are welcomed from clinically and non-clinically qualified applicants.
For Clinical Posts:
We actively encourage applications from specialty trainee level to those who already hold specialist registration.
If you are clinically qualified these Fellowships provide an opportunity to develop on your existing academic experience and establish a clinical academic career.
The nature of the clinical / academic workload profile for individual roles will be determined by your current level of specialist training and agreement with our local NHS organisations, with whom we work in close partnership.
University Clinical Academic Fellows will be required to hold the appropriate level of NHS honorary contract.
