Civitas Maxima (CM) coordinates a network of national and international lawyers and investigators who work for the interest of victims of international crimes. It operates in situations where no legal action to bring the perpetrators to justice has been successful and works in close partnership with the Global Justice and Research Project (GJRP) based in Monrovia. CM represents victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast.
CM was registered in September 2012 as an association in Geneva, Switzerland, and is recognized by the Swiss authorities as a not-for-profit organization.CM is an equal opportunity employer.

Intern Job Description:
CM is looking for an intern starting as soon as possible for a 4-6 months internship to support the young organization’s growing administrative and legal needs.
About 20% of the intern’s time will be spent on administrative and operational tasks. The rest of the intern’s time will be spent on substantive work, including legal research and daily factual analysis in support of CM's Ivory Coast case as well as of other confidential projects. The intern would work in very close relationship with CM’s legal counsel and support her in all her activities.
Requirements:
- Master degree in international law. Good understanding of modes of liability in international criminal law.
- Previous internship within International criminal tribunal would be considered as an asset.
- Diligent and precise analytical and factual analysis skills
- Fluent English speaker. Native French.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to work independently ,under low supervision and to take initiative.
- Respect for other cultures and value systems, flexibility.
- Available to work at least 70%.
- Utmost respect for confidentiality.
Location:
The intern would be ideally located in The Hague (Netherlands) to be able to meet with the Legal Counsel several times a week. CM does not have an official office in The Hague and the intern will mostly work on his own.
