The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) is at the heart of insurance and occupational pension supervision for the European Union. The Authority is part of the European System of Financial Supervision and acts as an independent advisory body to the leading European institutions. EIOPA’s core responsibilities include supporting the stability of the financial system, transparency of markets and financial products and ensuring the protection of insurance policyholders, pension scheme members and their beneficiaries.
EIOPA is currently accepting applications for its Executive Director vacancy. The successful candidate will manage the Authority on a day-to-day basis, ensure the achievement of EIOPA’s objectives and lead change in the organisation. 
Your responsibilities:
  • To ensure effective internal governance and efficient cooperation between EIOPA staff and national bodies and to prepare the work of the Management Board;
  • To prepare and implement the work programmes, staff policy plan and budget, as well as to draft the annual report, in particular laying out regulatory, supervisory and financial matters;
  • To represent EIOPA and to manage and motivate senior staff and a large number of stakeholders even under strong political pressure.
Your skills:
  • Sound knowledge of the sectors and activities relevant for EIOPA and a thorough understanding of the EU institutions and EU decision-making processes;
  • Extensive experience of budgetary, financial and/or human resources management and a proven ability to take decisions at strategic and operational level;
  • Excellent people management, leadership and interpersonal skills and a capacity to communicate and co-operate effectively with relevant players within and outside the EU. 
Previous experience in the area of insurance and/or occupational pensions is desirable.
