Director of MDF Afrique Centrale


MDF Afrique Centrale (MDF-AC) is part of the global MDF Training & Consultancy Group. Our office is based in Goma, DR Congo, and was founded in April 2007. We have a team of 25 qualified staff. We are looking for an experienced director who will be working together with the local counterpart (co-director).
Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of organisations and their staff to contribute to sustainable development. We are known for high quality training and consultancy services. Besides this, we conduct operational research.
Hierarchically and functionally the Director of MDF-AC is accountable to the Managing Director of MDF Global, based in the Netherlands.
Joint responsibilities with the co-director:
  • Define strategy of the regional office (vision, strategic planning, acquisition);
  • Oversight of financial planning and management, compliance with legislation and taxation;
  • Risk management;
  • Human Resource Development and Management of performance, policies and procedures;
  • Build the team and foster staff capacity;
  • Day to day management of the human, financial and material resources;
  • Establish strategic partnerships;
  • Marketing and PR of MDF- AC and its products and services.
Main outputs:
  • A well-balanced (gender, expertise, multicultural) high-quality team of trainers / consultants;
  • Well-attended open-entry courses;
  • Diversified and high quality products and services;
  • Sustainable results;
  • Strategic partnerships;
  • Up to date websites and inspiring brochures;
  • Concise annual plans, budgets and reports.
Core competencies:
Flexibility, teamwork, integrity and initiative.
Required Competencies:
  • Academic background in business administration, economics, development studies, sociology or other relevant field;
  • At least 5 years’ management experience in developing countries;
  • Relevant experience with consultancy and training (both in English and in French);
  • Leadership skills; Strategic Perspective;
  • Networking skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and French;
  • Planning, organising and financial control skills;
  • Cultural sensitivity;
  • Stress tolerance;
  • Knowledge of the rules and procedures governing the international development cooperation.
  • Familiarity with the functioning of NGO’s and government organisations.
  • We offer a challenging position in a very dynamic context and organisation. Salary and other conditions will be according to current MDF remuneration policy.
