The role
The Mining Applications Engineer will provide support for Sales Personnel in mining methods and machine applications within these mining methods. The role will also be a pivotal link with engineering houses in mine design development and will also look after Mine Projects. Another key area will be the development and training of the sales teams in mining applications.
Key performance areas
  • Adhere to all policies & procedures especially the EHS policies
  • To support the Sales group in generating business by providing assistance with Mining Application /Method Knowledge , product selection, packaging a number of products and/or services and developing value propositions, including product enhancements, that suit particular client applications
  • Review customer base and determine current mine methods used , tonnages and equipment used in these various applications
  • Liaise with Product Support Managers, as required, to provide information that supports the ongoing development and improvement of Sandvik products.
  • Undertake to be involved with Mining Engineering houses to assist in mine design suitability for Sandvik Product.
  • Undertake to be involved in any new mine projects that require mining expertise to assist both Sandvik and the Customer arrive at solution that benefits all parties
  • Undertake product application process support from initial conceptualization of solution to delivery of operational outcome.
Your profile
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Mining Engineering, coupled with a minimum of 5 years practical experience working in both Open Cut and Underground mine sites.
Technical experience in long term planning and scheduling with mine design is essential for this role along with exposure to consultancy houses within the mining industry.
Experience in hard rock is essential for the successful applicant.
