Rock Tools Reconditioning Technician

Sandvik Mining & Rock Technologyis a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industry. Our offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
We are currently seeking a Rock Tool Reconditioning Technician to work at the bit shop in Val-d’Or, QC.
The Role
The qualified applicant will be responsible for the sharpening and reconditioning of Sandvik Rock Tools and will also be required to monitor and maintain rock tools inventory. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Repairs and maintains rock tools to defined specifications
  • Ensuring parts and stocks are entered into the company data base
  • Maintaining bit reconditioning report log
  • Troubleshooting and providing technical recommendations and improvements to Supervisor
  • Assisting in training of customers and Sandvik employees as required
  • Completing accurate time records, technical reports and failure reports
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager
Your Profile
  • Completion of Secondary School (High School)
  • 1-3 years of basic machine shop or industrial experience would be an asset
  • Knowledge and/or experience with industry-specific equipment (DTH Hammer, Drills etc.) is an asset
  • Highly self-directed and have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work varied shifts
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Valid explosives permit and valid class 3 driver’s license would be an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
