Deputy Programme Director - Campaigns

£47,496 per annum

About the role

The International Secretariat requires an interim Deputy Programme Director for our Campaigns programme to contribute, by providing their leadership and expertise, to the development and delivery of activism that supports AI’s campaigns. In particular you would focus on the coordination of campaigning actions with external opportunities; providing support for activism to the AI movement and to regional and thematic campaigners and manage a team of over 10 staff. You would contribute to the coordination of the campaigning element of AI’s crisis response and provide advice on the design of activism strategies, planning, evaluation, finances and staffing.

About you

You will have substantial experience of campaigning including experience in the strategic development of campaigns preferably at the global level; you will also have demonstrable knowledge of the trends and directions of campaigning and activism in NGO/human rights sector and elsewhere. The successful candidate will have the ability to identify and take advantage of emerging campaigning opportunities; looking at existing situations and problems in novel ways and providing creative solutions. You will also have excellent communication and presentational skills, people and project management experience and a good working knowledge of human rights issues
