Director, Budgetary Execution in Directorate General Budget European Commission

The European Commission is looking to recruit a Director, Budgetary Execution in Directorate General Budget (GRADE AD14) COM/2011/10307 to be based in Brussels, Belgium

With 590 staff and five directorates, Directorate-General for Budget secures the resources we need from the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers and ensures sound management of Community funds. In this pivotal role, you will lead the Directorate for Budgetary Execution, which includes our accounting department, treasury and payments function, as well as dealing with all aspects of debt recovery.

Leading the Directorate and guiding your management teams, you will establish the work programme and objectives, put in place effective operational measures and prepare consolidated financial statements for the entire European Institutions, working to recognised international standards. At the same time, you will be central to the effective conduct of almost two million annual single payments totalling over €122 billion.

Naturally, you will join us with excellent knowledge of public accounting and budgeting, broad awareness of the European Commission’s functions and processes and considerable political sensitivity. Above all, you will be a highly experienced senior manager, ideally within a large finance or accounting department, and you will certainly combine excellent networking skills with well-developed problem solving abilities. Finally, you are fluent in English and have a good command of other European languages.
