Description:
The Carnegie Council's Development Department is seeking a part-time fall intern. This internship provides an exciting opportunity for students interested in international relations to experience the inner workings of an organization exploring the ethical dimensions of international affairs issues. The internship will offer first-hand insight into the non-profit fundraising cycle and will teach the fundraising skills needed to excel in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. During the grant writing process, the intern will cooperate with several departments within the Council and will have the opportunity to attend the Council's numerous high-profile lectures and workshops, featuring leading experts and practitioners in international affairs.

The development intern will work directly with the grant writer and development program assistant to assist with:

  • Researching potential funding sources (foundations, corporations, individuals) – 40%
  • Exploring grant opportunities and assisting the preparation of grant proposals – 40%
  • Data entry and other administrative duties as needed – 20%
  • Explore creative ways to increase the Council's visibility

To apply please submit your resume; a one-page cover letter (explaining your interests, what you hope to gain from this internship, and how you can contribute to the Council's Development Department); and a short writing sample (no longer than three pages) to info@cceia.org.

Terms and Conditions: This is an unpaid internship. School credit can be arranged and a transportation stipend of $15 a day will be provided. We require a minimum commitment of 15 hours a week during the fall semester.

NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. DUE TO THE EXPECTED HIGH NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS, ONLY SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES WILL BE INVITED TO AN INTERVIEW.
