Job Details

An outreach worker is required who has a clear understanding of widening participation and raising aspiration activity. This post will be based on the Scarborough Campus of the University of Hull and is for a fixed term until 31 July 2012.

This external facing role will involve the provision of a wide range of targeted outreach activities in schools, colleges and with adults aspiring to enter HE. In addition to raising aspirations this role will make prospective students aware of local progression opportunities and will raise awareness of the provision available at the University.

The outreach worker will be a graduate with a clear understanding of widening participation. She/he will have experience of working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, or working with young people in an educational setting.

Applicants will require excellent communication, project and event management skills. The post holder will be required to develop close relationships with a caseload of local schools, colleges, adult learning providers and community groups and will also need to explore ways to sustain and further develop the relationships.

This post requires an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
