DIRECTOR, FINANCE DEPARTMENT

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB or the Bank) has a great opportunity for a Director, Finance Department (DFD) who will provide strong leadership, and innovative and visionary management and oversight to the Finance Department’s functions.

CDB is a regional multilateral development bank which is committed to the harmonious economic growth and development of its member countries in the Caribbean and to promoting economic cooperation and integration among them, having special and urgent regard to the needs of its less-developed members. CDB is the premier vehicle for development financing in the Region.

The Role

Leading the Finance team, the DFD will be responsible for providing strategic advice on all financial management matters, the accounting, treasury investments, loans and grants administration, budget administration and monitoring function of the Bank. To be successful in this position, the DFD must reflect in his/her decisions a thorough understanding of CDB’s role as a development finance institution, the need to balance the requirements of its diverse shareholding structure, the risk profile of its loan portfolio and the vital importance of retaining the confidence of the rating agencies and the international capital markets.

The DFD will also provide Management with technical support on resource mobilisation and information on resource availability and use, and liaise with donor agencies/financial institutions from which CDB obtains resources. As a member of the Bank’s senior management, the DFD will play an important role in the collective leadership of the Bank, informing management and Board decisions on corporate and policy issues, and collaborating on organisational change management initiatives. The role requires the DFD to provide guidance and serve as a member of the Bank’s Loans, Investment and Internal Budget Committees.

The Candidate

Eligible candidates should have:

  1. An undergraduate degree in a relevant field plus a professional finance or accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIPFA, CMA or CGA. A Masters degree in business or other related field will be an advantage.
  2. Extensive professional experience in accounting and financial management with at least eight years at a management level.
  3. The successful candidate must be willing to live and work in Barbados.
