Based in Cairo, with regional travel

The British Council is looking for an experienced social development professional to join its regional leadership team in the Middle East and North Africa and lead its society programme. With expertise in civil society development and good governance, and supported by relevant post-graduate qualifications, you will have a strong track record of working effectively with partners to bring about positive social change. Understanding the changing dynamics of the region, you will provide strategic direction to country management and oversee the work of project delivery teams to ensure that British Council society projects meet agreed targets, remain relevant to the needs of local audiences and align with interests of UK stakeholders. As a senior manager, you will represent British Council in high-level meetings with partners, donors and governments where you will identify opportunities for new partnerships and new sources of income to increase the scale and impact of work that will result in societies whose citizens and institutions contribute to a more inclusive, open and prosperous world.
