GRANTS WRITER AND MANAGER POLICY & EDUCATION

Asia Society, a prestigious, global, educational and cultural non-profit seeks a

Grants Writer and Manager Policy & Education.

PURPOSE:

The Grants Writer and Manager Policy & Education is an integral member of the

Asia Society’s External Affairs Department and works with the

Director of Institutional Relations & Program Support on all fundraising activities

regarding grants from foundations and government agencies,

especially in the areas of Asia Society’s

policy institute and education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Director to collaborate with the Society’s program staff in Business and Policy, and Education to research and understand the financial needs of the institution and of individual programs; communicate grant opportunities and develop ideas for grant submissions;
  • Work as assigned on proposals in additional areas, such as arts and culture when necessary;
  • Write and prepare proposals, budgets and applications for support from foundations and government agencies;
  • Research and identify new foundation and government prospects to plan strategies to approach them;
  • Track in Raiser’s Edge all grant prospects, contact information, submission deadlines, and awards;
  • Write acknowledgement letters to grant makers for the grant payments in a timely manner;
  • Consolidate and maintain hard copy file documentation on the grant making history of the institution from various foundations;
  • Organize and participate in site visits to the Asia Society by grant makers as necessary;
  • Produce, in a timely fashion, the briefing materials and proposals necessary for such visits;
  • Provide stewardship of grants received by the Society in close collaboration with other Society departments and staff, particularly with grant program officers and the Finance Department;
  • Meet such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Institutional Relations & Program Support and the Executive Director, Global Corporate and Institutional Relations.


Qualifications


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate degree and 4-5 years fundraising experience, including proposal writing, prospect identification and research preferred;
  • Experience with government grants and other on-line grant application forms;
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • An understanding of, and an ability to articulate, institutional accomplishments and goals;
  • Ability to undertake multiple projects and meet regular deadlines;
  • Knowledge of Asian arts and culture, international issues, and education a plus;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software.
