Health, Environment and Sustainable Development Analyst - European Copper Institute

The European Copper Institute is an industry organisation committed to promoting copper's essentiality for health, technology and the quality of life. Amongst its many competences, ECI maintains an open and constructive dialogue, both with the European authorities as well as with international and intergovernmental bodies, in the areas of Health, Environment and Sustainable Development (HESD).
ECI has an immediate vacancy for a:
Health, Environment and Sustainable Development Analyst (M/F)
This new position is for an experienced analyst to carry out a broad range of HESD policy monitoring, competitive product intelligence gathering, data gathering and analysis activities. The position is part of a 5 person European team and will report to ECI’s Director for the Health, Environment and Sustainable Development program based in Brussels.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow up relevant HESD policy developments, specifically in the EU and the United Nations, that could result in threats and/or opportunities for the copper industry and/or copper products
  • Plan and execute intelligence gathering activities to substantiate success stories and strong HESD messages, both from the Copper Alliance’s own work and that of individual members
  • Build relationships with HESD professionals in member companies, as well as in sister organisations, to facilitate required data needs
  • Monitor HESD actions of competing materials and make recommendations for copper
  • Provide HESD data and intelligence support for the Copper Alliance’s communications and promotional programs
Personal Characteristics
  • Strong skills in competitive/business/market intelligence and data management, including modeling, collection and socio-economic analysis
  • Experience in policy monitoring (e.g. EU and/or UN)
  • Self-starter capable of operating independently, but within a team setting
  • Effective communicator able to explain results to multiple stakeholders
  • Position requires occasional global travel, plus sensitivity towards different cultures
Education and Experience
  • Science, engineering or other relevant degree
  • > 3 years experience in the core responsibilities of the position
  • Competent in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent English. Spanish and/or German skills useful for interactions with members
