International Rescue Committee Press and PR Manager

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading global humanitarian and post-conflict development organisation working in more than 20 conflict-affected countries worldwide. IRC-UK is the European headquarters, established in 1997 as an independent British charity. IRC-UK contributes to programme management, fundraising for overseas programmes, and policy and advocacy on conflict-related issues in Britain and Europe.

IRC-UK aims to increase its profile in the UK and Europe and become the go-to-agency for European press contacts in its strategic focus areas, reflecting the increasing importance of European donors to the global work of the IRC. As a member of IRC-UK’s Development team and the IRC’s global media team, this position is focused on highlighting the IRC’s international programmes, advocacy priorities and raising the brand and profile of the IRC through pro-active press and PR work. The post of Press and PR manager is a vital part of the IRC’s strategy to broaden its reach, build its audiences and increase fundraising income.

The role will contribute to the IRC brand being disseminated widely, and ensure that press outputs are appropriate for the wide range of audiences the IRC interacts with regularly. IRC-UK is seeking a candidate with extensive experience of developing and implementing a PR and media strategy with an international and ideally humanitarian or development focus. Existing contacts with the UK media and strong writing skills are desirable.
