Stora Enso plans to build plantation-based integrated board and pulp mills at Beihai city in Guangxi, southern China. The mill site will initially include a 450 000 tonnes per year state-of-the-art paperboard machine and pulp capacity of 900 000 tonnes per year, including necessary energy plant and auxiliary facilities. In a unique set-up, the board and pulp mills will be self-sufficiently integrated with wood supply from 120 000 hectares of self-managed eucalyptus plantations. The estimated supply demand of this mill will be about 2 800 000 m3 of wood per year.

Sustainability Director

Description

Main responsibilities in the plantation, pulp, board operations of Stora Enso in Guangxi:

• Be the head of the sustainability organisation in the integrated project, member of the integrated project management team reporting to the MD of the Industry JV
• Build a high performance organization for sustainability that are capable of delivering results in line with the sustainability framework of Stora Enso Guangxi
• Ensure timely delivery on a sustainability framework and agenda set for Stora Enso Guangxi
• Continuously listen and learn so we can adopt our sustainability approach to changing conditions
• Continuously seek for solutions to reach targets in the daily work covering
o Environmental and social plans for both industry and forest operations including relevant environmental and social management systems and robust environmental and social impact monitoring programs
o Local stakeholder engagement plan
o Work related to environmental permits and fulfilment on authority demands for industrial operations
o Sustainable supply chain management covering all materials and services
o Forest operations; sustainable forest management plan, forest certification, land contract correction, wealth distribution and community involvement (also e.g. in road building) conflict resolution mechanism and grievance channels
• Lead the work to train and create sustainability and corporate social responsibility to a built in element in the whole integrated organisation
• Act as responsible for sustainability communication, internal and external (in close cooperation with other Stora Enso communications organisations)
• Ensure a structured dialogue with local and global stakeholders to build trust based on the Stora Enso Stakeholder Guideline

Requirements

• Master degree from university (preferable in legal, MBA or environmental studies or similar)
• A proven knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
• Solid experience from Nordic brands and CSR concerns in China
• High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness
• Highly structured, systematic and analytical
