For our Head Office in Amsterdam we are looking for

Manager Finance/Controller

40 hours

As Manager Finance, it is your responsibility to manage and optimize the financial processes within War Child. In addition, manager Finance is also the corporate controller. Your department plays a crucial role in proper handling of War Child’s income and spending. War Child is proud of its current level of transparency to donors, its low cost policy and the recently reviewed planning&control process.

Your specific role is to continuous improve these high quality standards, to support the management team on financial and controlling matters, to train and instruct the financial managers in the field, and to manage the employees of the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Overall responsible for optimal financial services and the relevant processes, standards, systems and staffing needed;
  • Translate War Child strategic objectives into consequences for financial management
  • Advising role to War Child’s global management team on planning and controlling
  • Assessment of business cases
  • Day to day management of the Financial Department, as well as managing its staff (3 employees);
  • Taking the lead in complex change and change processes within the company, as well as being responsible for the implementation of these changes within the organization in general.
  • Responsible for functional guidance and support to finance managers in the field.

Your profile

Financial education (drs/RA). A clear vision on the role of financial management within an international NGO like War Child. At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or controlling position, preferably in an international context. Strong communication skills (verbal and written), result driven, great analytical skills, strong integrity, willing tot travel. Fluency in Dutch and English required.
