Administrative Assistant - Technical Support ECHA

ECHA is responsible for managing, and in some cases carrying out, the technical, scientific and administrative aspects of the regulations, and ensuring consistency at Community level in its application. The Job

The Administrative Assistant - Technical Support will work in multidisciplinary teams carrying out administrative, technical and support tasks relating to the implementation of the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), the Regulation on the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) and the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) in the operational directorates of European Chemicals Agency.

REACH and BPR aim to improve the protection of human health and the environment while maintaining the competitiveness and enhancing the innovative capability of the EU chemicals industry. ECHA is responsible for carrying out certain technical, scientific and administrative aspects of REACH, CLP and the BPR. The Administrative Assistants will support the implementation of these tasks and will report to the Team Leader or Head of Unit. In general, these tasks are related to the technical processing and/or scientific evaluation of information on chemicals submitted by industry, or to related communications and helpdesk activities.

Depending on the particular role, she/he will be responsible for one or more of the following tasks:

Main tasks:

  • Perform technical and administrative activities in support of REACH/CLP/BPR regulatory processes;
  • Contribute as needed to the processing of technical, scientific and administrative information submitted by industry or Member States, according to ECHA’s established procedures and deadlines;
  • Co-ordinate and contribute to the drafting of administrative decisions to be sent to registrants or applicants;
  • Contribute to the drafting and maintenance of technical manuals/practical guides targeted towards ECHA’s external stakeholders, principally industry;
  • Provide advice to the industry/Member State users of ECHA’s regulatory processes, and assistance with regard to individual data submissions, ensuring high quality responses to external enquiries within tight timelines.

Other tasks:

  • Contribute to the further development of the communications and publications programme of ECHA, including web publication and related activities;
  • Contribute to the identification and specification of technical improvements to the related administrative processes;
  • Participate in IT testing in support of the development of the IT systems used in regulatory processes;
  • Contribute to the day-to-day planning for their allocated activities;
  • Perform other related tasks as required.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Successful completed post-secondary level education attested by a diploma.

or

  • Successful completed secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education and total professional experience of at least three (3) years.

In addition, you must have a minimum of one (1) year of professional experience attained after the fulfilment of the requirements in a) or b) above.

Only qualifications issued by EU Member State authorities or EEA authorities and qualifications recognized as equivalent by the relevant EU or EEA Member State authorities will be accepted.

Selection Criteria

If you meet the eligibility criteria set out in section 2, you will be assessed on the basis of the following selection criteria. The candidates who are judged to be the most suitable on the basis of the selection criteria will be invited to an interview.

  • Your academic and professional qualifications and their relevance to the main areas of work listed in section 1;
  • Your professional experience: the range of fields covered; the type and level of work done and its relevance to the areas of work listed in section 1.

The following will be considered as assets:

  • Experience of REACH-IT or IUCLID, or of related software for the management of workflow processes and/or data capture.

The academic and professional qualifications, professional experience and knowledge and experience considered as an asset must be described in the ECHA CV.
