FHI 360 seeks an Associate Director, Health Sector Communications in Washington, DC or Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Position Summary:

The Associate Director will be responsible for developing and implementing communications efforts and special initiatives to support FHI 360 in specific sectors. These activities will be developed to support enterprise wide communications efforts, working to position FHI 360 as a leader in human development and specific sectors of focus. The Associate Director may also be involved in supporting FHI 360 country offices in strategy development and implementation of programs within the scope of the position.

Position Responsibilities:

Develop and implement communications activities to establish, protect, elevate and reinforce FHI 360’s leadership in specific sectors or regions. Manage relationships across groups within FHI 360 involved in the health sector, and work closely with executive leads in each of the health areas. Manage corporate communications aspects of FHI 360 clinical trials and other health research projects. Develop activities to establish, protect, elevate and reinforce FHI 360’s leadership in the fields of health and health-related research. Develop and maintain continual awareness about ongoing projects and upcoming communications needs in the health sector. Based on this knowledge, work with team leads across the communications team to develop integrated campaigns to further FHI 360’s business goals in the health and research sectors. Work effectively with the knowledge management and/or other groups to mine health related information, success stories and evidence of program impacts. Provide input and work effectively within the Communications team to produce required deliverables either by individual contribution and/or by coordinating efforts of other team members. Manage potential issues in the health sectors that could negatively impact FHI 360’s corporate reputation. Develop and manage relationships with external partners around communications initiatives for health sector. Manage internal relationships across all groups within FHI 360 involved in the health and research sectors. Manage relevant communications projects and specified internal “accounts”. Participate in Communications team meetings and working groups as required. Represent Corporate Communications on sector-related FHI 360 teams as needed. Evaluate success of assigned communications projects; inform future efforts based on the success of each project Contribute to planning and required for workshops, seminars and conferences. Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

BS/BA in communications, business or related discipline and 8-10 years relevant work experience, preferably as a public relations/communications point of contact for an international public health or development organization; Or MA/MS/MBA in a related field with a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience; Experience with scientific research and clinical trials in terms of HIV/AIDS, family planning, NCDs and NTDs; Ability to take initiative and proactively manage multiple large, complex projects under tight deadlines; Exceptional writing and communication skills and expertise in tailoring communications to a wide variety of audiences; Excellent organization and time management skills.
