Asylum Access Refugee Rights Toolkit Intern

Asylum Access, an innovative nonprofit dedicated to realizing refugee rights in the Africa, Asia and Latin America through legal services, policy advocacy and public education, urgently seeks an intern with working technical and online knowledge to assist in the development and improvement of its online Refugee Rights Toolkit. The Toolkit is an online “Office-in-a-Box” being developed and shared with other Refugee Rights organizations worldwide in order to share best practices and build capacity to bring quality legal services to refugee clients in their first countries of refuge. The Toolkit will participate in Cutting-edge refugee rights movement-building, have the opportunity to lead projects, work in a relaxed and supportive working environment, and receive mentoring by leading refugee rights lawyers and advocates.

Ideal candidates will be currently enrolled in an academic institution and possess the ability to work independently with little supervision, manage multiple deadlines, and work effectively with high attention to detail. They will also exhibit a genuine interest in refugee rights issues.

Internship Responsibilities:

Make edits to the format and content of the Refugee Rights Toolkit as necessary Reach out to Toolkit Pilot users and other Refugee Rights colleagues for content contributions Manage Feedback surveys and remain in close contact with the other Toolkit Managers in order to discuss Piloters’ feedback and make changes in accordance with the agreed upon plan Possibly explore new platforms for the Refugee Rights Toolkit Remain knowledgeable about the Toolkit’s content, features, purpose, and goals in order to pitch it to possible new users Work remotely but able to maintain in consistent contact with Overseas Operations Director (based in Geneva) and Overseas Operations Associate (based in Los Angeles).

Qualifications:

Passion for refugee rights Able to work effectively with minimal supervision Proficient in Digital Media, Website Building, Graphic Design Basic web forms coding Project or event production Proficient in Microsoft Office Skilled communicator Strong time management Can handle multiple short-term projects in a fast-paced environment Available for 12 weeks or more Available for 16+ hours/week (fall / spring) to full-time (fall / spring / summer)
