Christian Aid Head of large or complex programmes

This role supports the geographic regions by putting in place the "surge capacity" for large, complex and sensitive contracts and programme grants and managing their transition into the geographic regions. It enables Christian Aid to scale up in designing and delivering ambitious programme packages and in developing and rolling out new thematic areas such as community health. It balances this by ensuring that we fulfil accountabilities to programme stakeholders, including donors, and that we appropriately manage the risks we take. The role reports to the Head of Programme Delivery and Operations and is a member of the International Department Senior Management Team and the organisational Strategic Management Group. It sits on key programme boards such as the one for the PPA and on the Large Programme Oversight Committee.

Requires proficient experience in programming in a range of geographies and sectors within an INGO environment. Requires working knowledge of key donors such as DFID and European Commission (EC). Requires people management experience and ability to manage remote relationships of a direct and matrix nature. Excellent command of all aspects of the project management cycle. Educated to degree level or above.
