Chevron Energy Technology Company is accepting online applications for the position of Production Chemistry Management Specialist located in Houston, TX.

Overview:

This position will have responsibilities for monitoring, diagnosing and treating oilfield production problems, developing and optimizing chemical treatment programs, and working closely with operating assets and chemical service company personnel. This position will be based in Houston, Texas and will report to head of the Production Chemistry Team.
Position Details: Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provides technical support for major capital projects by developing recommendations for fluid sampling, fluid and chemical analyses, and chemical treating and performance monitoring as part of the system design and development
  • Provides guidance to both capital projects and existing fields on the selection and qualification of production chemicals. This includes recommending appropriate test methodologies/protocols and providing oversight of chemical vendors’ chemical selection process
  • Provides consultation to operating assets in diagnosing chemical related issues and providing reliable and cost-effective chemical solutions
  • Works with operating assets and chemical vendors to develop chemical management programs, and optimize chemical treatments and performance monitoring
  • Develops proposals for funding from operating assets/business units
  • Conducts multiple projects concurrently in an organized , efficient and timely manner to ensure deliverables, costs and timelines are met
  • Prepares technical reports, and presents/publishes technical findings
  • Shares lessons-learned and best practices in the area of production chemistry with the team and throughout Chevron.
  • Travels up to 25% of the time

    Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 year experience in laboratory testing /evaluation of oilfield chemicals. Working experience with a broad range of production chemicals would be advantageous
  • Minimum 10 year industry experience in oil and gas sector, including substantial oilfield experience in chemical applications, performance monitoring and treatment optimization. Broad experience with various production chemicals and chemical treating methods would be highly advantageous
  • In-depth knowledge of oilfield process and production systems and their operations
  • Strong background in developing and managing chemical treatment and monitoring programs
  • Previous employment with a chemical service company or experience working closely with chemical service companies
  • In addition to strong technical qualifications, the ideal candidate should possess these attitudes and skills outlined as follows:

    o Must place personal and process safety as the first priority in travel and work by strictly adhering to Chevron’s safety culture, policies, processes and practices
    o Self-motivated, proactive, an effective project manager, a good team-worker, and an effective communicator
    o Experienced in collaborating with cross functional teams, and working with subject matter experts, operating assets and chemical vendors
    o Proficient at working independently and taking initiative on projects and tasks with minimum supervision
    o Willing to travel internationally and to oilfields (some are considered to be hardship locations)
