SUMMARY
The International Youth Foundation (IYF), a global nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives and conditions of young people worldwide, is seeking a Program Manager to initially support a new program in Latin America and the Caribbean. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and managing employability/entrepreneurship projects in region, building capacity of local partners, and adapting curricula to the local environment. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the LAC Regional Director, implement assigned IYF program(s) to achieve program outcomes in accordance with donor expectations, grant agreements and work plans.
  • Review relevant curricula and oversee the process of translating and adapting the curricula into Spanish consistent with the local context.
  • In close consultation with IYF team members and local stakeholders from across sectors, provide strong support in the design of plans for implementation of adapted curricula in multiple Latin countries for the benefit of disadvantaged youth.
  • Manage the recruitment, orientation, management and support of consultants for assigned programs, working closely with the Finance and Administration team.
  • Manage contracts and sub-grants to partners, including reviewing proposals and monitoring program implementation.
  • Provide input in the design of the monitoring and evaluation system for assigned program(s) and oversee plan implementation as appropriate.
  • Promote and facilitate sharing of IYF good practices and learning in key technical areas.
  • Provide technical support in developing and managing capacity building assistance for implementing partners to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Prepare reports to donors and other key stakeholders on a timely basis and coordinate the development of communication products in collaboration with the LAC Regional Director and IYF Communication teams.
  • Communicate effectively and collaboratively with implementing partners, relevant government authorities, donors, private sector partners and other key stakeholders as assigned.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Regional Director and perform other duties, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Master’s degree in public or business administration, sociology, education, workforce development or a related field germane to the responsibilities to be performed is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working on youth employment, education, workforce development and program management required.
  • Proven ability to work with local partners to design and implement training programs and materials and to increase their capacity.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the youth sector and issues affecting young people in Latin America, especially out-of-school and other vulnerable youth (youth affected by HIV/AIDs, conflict/insecurity, poverty, low literacy, etc). Experience with programs targeting employment and/or entrepreneurship is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Program management experience required and experience working on corporate-funded programs is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to find viable solutions to complicated problems in a flexible, time-sensitive and creative manner.
  • Experience successfully working across sectors (e.g. public, for profit and civil society) to solve social issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.
  • The ability to work successfully within a variety of cross-cultural settings and make judgments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to advocate and liaise with a variety of donors, including bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations and the corporate sector preferred.
  • Strong communication skills. Excellent command of English and Spanish, both oral and written is required. High proficiency in Portuguese, desired.
  • Excellent computer skills using MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.
