Department

Our team is responsible for advising the Trust on its responsibilities for setting the BBC’s content standards. We support the Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee and Complaints and Appeals Board, which are responsible for determining appeals under the BBC’s editorial and general complaints processes. We also provide a correspondence handling service to the Trust.

Role

We’re recruiting for a Correspondence Assistant, to join our Editorial Standards team, based in London. In this key role, you’ll support the delivery of a professional correspondence handling service to the BBC Chairman and BBC Trust. Reporting to the Correspondence Co-ordinator, you'll help draft responses to correspondence and ensure that correspondence is logged, tracked and responded to in line with the Trust’s commitment to accountability and the BBC’s complaints framework. You will also provide administrative support to the Editorial Standards team, with particular responsibility for raising purchase orders and freelance contracts on the BBC’s financial system, SAP.

Requirements

To succeed in this role you'll need first class administrative skills, ideally combined with experience of handling correspondence or complaints in a similar environment. You’ll have the ability to remain calm, organised and focused under pressure; and have excellent attention to detail. As well as being a good communicator with diplomacy and discretion, you’ll have excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly. Knowledge of SAP would also be an advantage.
