You'll understand what makes compelling and entertaining radio - ensuring accuracy at all times.

Role

12 month fixed term contract / attachment
Base : Brighton
You'll be translating complex material into reports that engage with our audiences. You will be working for both bulletins and programmes and providing material for Regional TV news and weekly political programmes on BBC1.   There is a strong emphasis on originality and on breaking new ground, especially when telling the stories of the people most directly affected by decisions made by councillors, regional representatives and MPs in our community.

Requirements

You would need to build strong relationships with key political stakeholders and could become the first point of contact for local MPs to ensure that the wider BBC is truly reflecting the democratic life of the country.
You will be aware of the requirements of all our platforms, including online, and will need a good knowledge of politics and proven news judgement. Reporting to the Editor of the station, you’ll be working with a range of people in the team and will have to work quickly and flexibly. You’ll also need to be able to work independently and often unsupervised.
You must have strong editorial judgement and due to the highly sensitive nature of politics, this job requires heightened awareness of the need for impartiality.
