PROGRAMME FOCUS
As a start-up social enterprise, IFHD will initially focus on strengthening the social and economic position of small producers’ organisations across the country. In the long-run, IFHD will diversify and develop programmes towards poverty alleviation and civil society building.
 
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Programme Director is responsible for the development and growth of IFHD towards its objective of affecting social change in India. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Programme Director will be charged with executing programmes and policies of IFHD. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative entrepreneurial professional with a passion for social change.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
 
  • Design, develop and manage programmes especially on sustainable agriculture, access to finance for producer organizations, access to markets for producers.
  • Provide leadership, manage human resources and mobilize financial resources.
  • Develop programmes consistent with IFHD' s priorities based on an analysis of key development issues, emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Represent IFHD and maintain contacts with civil society organizations, Government, corporates and others.
  • Managing finances, including annual planning and budgeting.
  • Develop fund management and monitoring & evaluation practices of IFHD
  • Ensuring that the quality and professional standard of programme implementation are maintained.
MUST HAVES/ ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
IFHD’s Programme Director must have
  • Post Graduate in Business administration/ rural development with atleast 7 years of relevant post qualification experience.
  • An affinity for IFHD’ mission, goals and values.
  • Ability to conceptualise, think pro-actively, and articulate ideas for programme development.
  • Ample, verifiable experience of managing donor relations and an entrepreneurial attitude, including a track record in managing and raising funds. Leadership qualities and experience in personnel management.
  • Capacity to set priorities
  • Familiarity with social, cultural and political contexts across India
  • Inter-cultural understanding and an open attitude towards staff inputs in programme and/or office development.
  • Relevant experience with policy development and financial administration of a professional organization will be an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Hindi and, if possible, one regional language.
  • Prior experience in issues related to livelihoods and enterprise will be an asset.
 COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position will be determined based upon the experience of the candidate hired.
